W. P. Cope, came in from his
farm northeast of town Tuesday
eveniug to attend to a little
. business.
The Gunn "Fast mail," of
Higgins, arrived in town Wed-
nesday morning loaded with
drummers and tbeir grips.
Otto Frazier, of the northeast
part of the county was in town
oa business yesterday and shak-
ing hands wifc'i his many friends.
Martin Bussard came down
town yesterday for the first time
since he was confined to his room
some three weeks ago with
measles.
MissMalissa Wilson, of'Fargo,
arrivef in town Monday on her
away to the Cron ster ranch where
she will visit for a time with her
aunt, Mrs. R. M. Cronister.
A bridge across Wolf. Creek
would be a pretty good thing for
the farmers north of town and
would be an all right "fixin" for
the towns people' to appreciate as
well.
Ifap'e.-e of this old Mother
Earth adjoining Lipscomb was
cornered up for a future county
poor farm—well it would be an-
other good business proposi-
tion— when it doesn't put an ex-
/•a^taxation on to get in on the
ground floor while the price in
land is down.
The production of lumber in
Texas was approximately five
per cent greater during April
' than the preceding month of
March, the increase being due
to better weather conditions
throughout most of the State.
There was some curtailment
along the Sabino River milling
territory near the end of the
month, due to heavy rainfall in
many places.
The County Commissioners
Court met in session Monday as
a board of equalization which
will be kept in action for about
twelve days re-adjusting the tax
proposition, and it is hoped that
when- through witti their labor
that everyone will be satisfied,
as it is a pretty "tough grit"
in the "hopper" this trip and
the commissioners have been
putting in some pretty stif work.
Great headway is being made
on the E. F. Randolph residence
in the south part of town. The
carpenters have been diligently
at work and the new house is^
now very conspicuous in its
location from the main part of
town. Well drillers are also at
work and befor long there will
be a good well of the sparkling
fluid obtained at a depth of about
100 feet
The process of manufacture
added $13,700,000 to the gross
wealth of Texas during April.
Cities and towns in every section
of the state are pushing a vigor-
ous factory campaign and mauy
of them, through the efforts of
their Commercial Clubs and
Chambers of Commerce, succeed-
ed in landing a total of one
hundred and fifteen new enter
prises. The home industry
campaign is bearing fruit and en-
conraging foreigo capital to in-
vest in Texas enterprises.
N. N. Flathers and family of
this place and his brother C. A.
and family of, Shattuck, Okla-
homa, returned Friday from an
eight days trip to Des Moines,
Clayton, N. M., and points in
Colorado. The few days re-
creation in the mountainous re-
gions seemed to be agreeable as
everyone appeared to have an
overwhelming stock of bright-
ness depicted upon their smil-
ing countenances. The rugged
scenery of •.few Mexico and
Colorado-furnished .just enough
"roughness" to make a basket
dinner spread upon the green
blanket underneath the shade ot
a familiar tree ve y appreciative.
C. D. left here for bis home on
Saturday morning after a nights
rei-t spent in Lipscomb.
