Ten wagon loads of broom
corn passed through town yester-
X ' day morning from the norih for
Higgins, the sight reminded us
of a "train of flats." It was
the largest string of broom corn
that, has passed through here
this summer in one body.

The first of the week, W. J.
Cessna drove up to our old den
of trials and tribulations and
loaded us bodily into tjaat rapid
transit wheel propelling machine
of his, and believe your uncle,
we had a merry" trip. We hiked
over to Glazier and on the trip
passed Morria McKee's place to
the right of us which looked fine
and W. H. Keffer's farm was
seen oxer the hill, to the left
Thomas Bros, country home and
then to the rignt once more se-
cluded from the hot sun, nestled
in among trees with Plum creek
winding and twisting about the
shady nook was the home of Wm.
Bates. Iq all the trip was a
pleasure, the fields of wheat,
barley, Oats and kafir was look-
ing good and the fragrarce from
freshly cut alfalfa was something
grand. We landed in Glazier
with time enough to catch our
breath about three times before
returning. Hare things seemed
to be up up and doing, the mer-
chants were of pleasant disposi-
tion although a bank failure did
occur recently. In looking
about, accidently our binoculars
dropped down on the smiling
countenance of Miss Ida Farrel,
the bustling editor of the Glazier
Review interviewing "a hand-
somer man" than us with a more
luxurious crop of "lilacs" than
we possessed, so we hid ourself
behind W. J.'s big cap until the
city limits were passed on our
ramble home.
Pulveroid signs carrying pic-
tures of the proposed Alamo
Heroes Monument are now being
sent to the thousand and more
banks in Texas which are de-.
positories for the Alamo Heroes
Building fund and which hold
tickets of this fund to sell to
all wishing to assist in the work.
On each sign beneath the pic-
ture of the monument it is stated
that "This Bank is Depository
for Part of the $2,000,000 Fund
for the Erection of the above
Magnifiae^t Monument on the
Alamo Battle Grounds, by the
Alamo Heroes Monument Asso-
ciation of Texas." The banks
are requested to hang these
signs in their lobbies so their

customers may be kept reminded
constantly of this work that is
going on and they may know the
bank is caring for a portion of
the fund ^and is ready to take
care of more. It is proposed to
increase the membership of the
Alamo Heroes Monument Asso^
ciation. It was never intended
it should be a close coiporation,
and the time has come when the
membership should receive close
attention. Manager Locke has
written to the honorary vice
presidents . in each county of
Texas asking each to send him
a list of one per cent of the in-
habitants of fchat county. When
these lists arrive it is his inten-

matter of membership.
