CAN'T STOP If.
Some of the newspapers are saying
that tho death of Judge Hargis will
end the Breathitt county feud. Those
papers don't know Kentucky feudists
even a little bit. If young Hargis is
hung for killing his father some fel-
low will lay for the sheriff who hung
him and then the sheriff's friends will
kill him and on and on the thing will
go. A feinl is better than a picnic to
Kentucky mountaineers and they don't
want one stopped. - -

a seven story hous in New York to
The Aiflrtch ciirrencv bill looks for
all the world just like it might have
been framed after the platform of the
old Greenback party which was so
much ridiculed by both republicans
and democrats- The Bailey amend
ment does not alter the form of the
hill but merely increases the amount
of currency to be issued and provides
that railroad bonds shall not be ac
cepted by the government as collateral
to secure the payment of the currency
issue. Briefly stated the Aldrlch-Bai-
lev bill provides for' the issuance by
the government of currency to be loan
ed to National Banks at low interest.
the banks being required to place
bonds with the government to insure
the repayment of the loan. The banks
of-course. will Idan this money out to
their customers at a higher rate of in-
terest making the difference in the in-
terest paid the government and that
secured from borrowers as profit In
other words it ought to be termed a
bill for the benefit of National Banks
to enable them to secure loans from
the government at a low rate of inter-
est. A great objection to the bill is
that it is in the interest or a certain
business more than in aid of the peo-r
pie. If it is all right for the govern-
ment to issue such bond secured cur-
rency to the banks why is it wrong to
go a step further and issue money di-
rect to the cotton grower or the tobac-
co producer secured by a ljen on the
product. and why not issue money to
the manufacturer secured by bonds of
the manufacturing establishment. The
truth is the Aldrich-Bailey measure
does not look good to those who le-
lieve in conservative financiering for
the government and to those who op-
pose class legislation. On this sub
ject the Richmond News. Leader has
this to say:
"A Washington sjiecial says that a
Democratic senatorial conference af-
ter discussing the Bailey currency bill
for two hours made it plain that there
was no chance of harmonizing the
widely different views of what a Demo-
cratic measure should be. It is not
very flattering to Democracy that its
senators cannot evolve a plain busi-
nesslike common-sense . plan of bank-
ing and currency reform that It
means of fighting the predatory trusts
there would have been a chance of the
democratic party adopting the sug-
gestion of John Temple Graves that
Bryan should place Roosevelt in nomi-
nation for a third term. While the
democrats are' pleased the republicans-
are heaping denunciations upon the
president in terms so hot that they
burn the mouth of the speakers and
sizz the papers In " which . they are
printed. Roosevelt doesn't seem to
care except it is stated that he did
not Intend to make it so strong that
even Jeff Davis of Arkansas would re-
gard it as all right. That unicpie
character speaking of the message
just after it was read said:
"That is the best Democratic doc
trine I have heard emanate from a
Republican source. In fact the presi
dent has put it. more aptly and strong
ly than I could do it myself. He has
iu that message adopted the iews
which I have so long entertained and
