At the1 time of his appointment as Associate Justice
Judge Vantis enjoyed a large- civil practice and has
been engaged from time to lime in some of the most
important matters of litigation brought in McLennan
Countyi
He Is' now In the prime of vigorous manhood and is
adnilrably equipped both mentally and t.hystcally for
the proper performance of the arduous and important
duties .required of a member of the Texas Supreme
Court !for which position he has announced his can-
didacy before the Democracy of Texas at the next
July primary election and which ho submits to the;
candid judgment of the people upon his record as a
member of that Court for the past year.
His fcandidacy has already received cordial and un-
stinted endorsement from the members of the bar in
everypart of the State and in the following counties

didacy of Judge J. E. Yantis of Waco for Associate
Justice of the Supreme Court qf Texas knowing him
to be one of the ablest and purest jurists who have
adorned that Court and knowing that the people have
never hd a more faithful and diligent public servant

who for several years resided and .practiced his pro-
fession at Sweetwater aad in West Texas is a candi-
date for re-election to the portion he is now filling
