The People Speak
One million two hundred thousand strong, the voters of
fexas marched to the polls Saturday, July 24th and revis-
ed their choice for Legislative, Executive and Judicial
alic officials, from prrcinct to cuunlv. state, and Nation-
al, and while under the primary laws of Texas, a second elec-
tion will be held on August 2Slh. in onlor to declare the
yinnner, in many instances the choice has now been made,
f'' During the heat of the campaign just closed, both in
cal and state elections, probably harsh words were uttered
nd feelings of some were hurt, yet as time goes on, these
sunds will heal and Democracy in all her glory, will con-
iiue to function, the same kind of Democracy which has
the past and which will continue in the future to make
lerica great.
VM&pxicandidates who were unsuccessful in their bid for
*blic office probably i'eel that their friends let them down
it will take time to reconcile themselves to defeat. Men
women with ability and a desire to render public service
jnt down in defeat, yet we would have it no other way,
iuse under our system, it's the people who speak, and
lot a Dictator who gives his orders. We made our free choice,
Ive voted our convictions, and if our choice was unwise, and,
|the service to be rendered by our elected officials fails to
ome up'to the highest standard to which we are entitled,
smporarily we suffer, but under our great system, and UN-
ILIKE DICTATORSHIP, we will have the opportunity to
ledy the error when these same officials ask for reelection.
The people have spoken, and as citizens and taxpayers, it
1\r duty as GOOD TEXANS and GOOD AMERICANS to
]to our elected officials our complete co-operation to the
rthat these officials may lie successful in the discharge
their SACRED duties. Elected officials A DONE do not
^AMERICA great. Elected officials ALONE do not make
H ,3 elected officials ALONE do NOT and CAN-
ymake COLLIN COUNTY great.
An unsuccessful candidate in the United States in many
Aspects is a winner. He is not shackled and has an oppor-
tunity to offer his or her service in maintaining our free-
dom which is the fundamental of our great Democracy. A
defeated candidate in the United States is a KING compared
| t0^those who live under DICTATORSHIP.
xAfter the August primary run-off election, and all our
officials have been selected, then as citizens of this county
and of Texas,- lot's forget the past and look to the future.
Let's bury our wounds and all pulling together as friend,
and neighbors, make in reality this the greatest country
under God's shining sun.
Always may "THE PEOPLE SPEAK."
