McKenna Moran, 5, shares some treats with the Easter Bunny at First National Bank
of Sachse.
FNB thanked
for Easter treats
Mayor Mike Felix said he wanted to thank the
First National Bank of Sachse for donating prizes for
the city Easter Egg Hunt.
"The annual Easter Egg Hunt was a great success,"
Mayor Felix said. "We really appreciate the generous
prize donations of the Sachse Bank. They are a great
part of our community"
Sachse Bank tellers stuffed over 500 easier eggs
with candy and coins.
Several of the eggs contained a blue coupon asking
the winner to drop by the bank for their prize.
Those children received a bag full of Easter good-
ies.
The winners of the bank Easter Bunny Coloring
Contest were Blakely Lindberg, Jack Ersman, Phillip
Feinhals, Bailey Trosper, Neil Brua and Drew
Feinhals.
"It's always a pleasure to participate in any com-
munity event," First National Bank of Sachse
President Don Flatt said. "We are committed to being
part of the community."

the route after years of opposing the
entire project." he said.
"I felt then that a unanimous vote
would give the city the best negotiat-
ing position and we now need to
leverage our support of the project
during this negotiation."
Burnett said that because of the
language in the draft interlocal
agreement, his concern was that
existing roadways would not be con-
tinued.
He recalled that in at least one of
the public discussions, the question
of public service roads was not com-

pletely resolved and the initial
thought was that service roads going
through Sachse would either be on
or off accesses to the toll road.
"So based on the draft interlocal
agreement language, the concern
was that Pleasant Valley might not
be continued as a through street," he
said.
"In addition, there was no firm
commitment of through service
roads, a third lane on the through
service roads, circle back turns
beneath the Merritt overpass or
under the Mills overpass."
One of Burnett's major concerns
was connectivity within the PCiBT

business district.
"In addition to the heavy truck
traffic placed on Pleasant Valley by
the Garland landfill operation, any
additional traffic burden on Pleasant
Valley or Merritt simply is not
acceptable to the residents of that
community," he
"Based on my reading of the
interlocal agreement, I provided city
staff with a list of 'care-abouts' as
well as a list of 'must-haves.'
"It turns out that in a recent NTTA
meeting city staff was able to con-
firm that Pleasant Valley will contin-
ue as a through connection to
Garland."
N'lTA also committed to a third
service road lane and the Merritt and
Miles over and underpass returns.
"But more importantly, the NTTA
agreed in principal to allow Sachse
to develop a through road, either tied
to or above the existing Pleasant
Valley leg, north of the proposed
tollway footprint." Burnett said.
"In addition, NTTA gave us a
commitment that would allow
Sachse to extend the existing
Pleasant Valley leg south of the pro-
posed tollway footprint direct intat
Merritt Rd."
The reason that Burnett thought
city staff action was significant is
that historically, these projects can
be rigid and not allow a city to
include physical as well as quality of
life needs.
Staff action and NTTA's willing-
ness to ag. we prior to the agreement
is a very good indicator that it is rea-
sonable to expect that this project
can be done in such a way as to min-
imize its effect on neighborhoods
from Lee Hutson to Merritt to
Pleasant Valley.
Equally important, NTTA is limit-
ing the city's financial liability, rep
resenting a savings of several million
dollars, he added.
"I firmly believe that our unani-
mous support of the northern route
created last week's favorable
response from the NTTA." he said.
"And as a result, the entire city
will benefit and the Pleasant Valley
community's needs can be incorpo-
rated in the city's future growth:"
