The panhandle is the finest beef cattle region in the United
States—and has been for many years. But, until Pinkney's started business in
Amarillo eight years ago, farmers elsewhere received the finishing profit and
feed market.
The Importance of Pinkney's to the raisers of cattle and hogs in the Panhandle
! Indicated by the impressive sum paid to them by the company last year. It
totaled $745,393.03. Also, this local cattle market strengthened the demand
«nd price for al! Panhandle cattle—helped materially to enhance the cattle-
men1* Income.
Amarillo citizens and businesses likewise have benefited greatly from the estab-
lishment here of this new industry. For instance, the Pinkney payroll last year for
f+t «Ixfy-six employees was $96,755.17. And, of course, there was a very large
additional sum expended in Amarillo and the Panhandle for supplies, auto-
moflva equipment, fuel and upkeep, insurance, freight and other expenses.
ACKING CO.
During these eight years a constant program of enlargement, improvement and
modernization has been under way at Pinkney's. Today, as a consequence, the
Panhandle housewife receives quality meat products, fresher and in better con-
dition than from other sourcrs, produced in a modern, absolutely sanitary plant,
and from cattle and hogs 100% Panhandle raised and fattened.
Pinkney's takes credit for having fulfilled the obvious need and opportunity for
a modern, adequate meat packing organization at Amarillo. Also, the owners
and managers of the business, who are all Amarillo citizens, are fully alive to
the rapid progress being made in the home finishing of cattle and hogs; and
pledge themselves to keep abreast of this development through growth and
progress in their packing plant and meat distribution facilities.
But this mutually beneficial partnership between Pinkney's, the cattle and hog
producers of the Panhandle, Amarillo, and the retailers and housewives of the
Panhandle would not have been possible except for the loyal patronage and
support of this latter group. Pinkney's appreciates this fact very much—real-
izes that this has been the key to the success of the business and the people
identified with it. This good will for Pinkney's and its products is the com-
pany's most valued possession. To maintain this regard, and if possible to en-
hance it, is the constant aim and effort of every member of the Pfnlcney em-
ployee family. They want you to prefer SUN-RAY Meat Products not merely
because they are Amariiio and Panhandle produced—but also because they
represent the best value for your money in the Panhandle, which is Pinkney's
sincere belief. Fifty years from now, when Amarillo celebrates her One Hun-
dredth Anniversary, Pinkney's expects to point to a real record of progress
and accomplishment—a record fully in kroping with the rapid strides the com-
pany anticipates for the city and the Panhandle in the next half century.
