Sales Increase in Four Counties By Nancy Walker
When 1998 figures from the State Comptroller's Office are compared to 1997 totals, Comanche, East- land, Erath, and Hamilton Counties all reported in- creases in gross sales. Bosque was the only Cross Tim- bers county reporting a decline. Comanche County experienced the greatest sales increase among local counties. Its $212.7 million reve- nue total reflects gains of 30.5 percent and 32.6 percent over 1997 and 1996 figures. Eastland County's gross sales were up 1.4 percent, or $6.6 million, between 1997 and 1998. This county noted an 11.8 percent revenue advance between 1996 and 1998. Erath reported only a 1.2 percent increase in gross sales between 1997 and 1998. Last year's revenue total of $546.6 million is 10.1 percent above the 1996 value. Hamilton County's gross sales increased by 26.9 percent or $36 million between 1997 and 1998. Com- parison of 1996 and 1998 reveals a 19.8 percent sales increase.
