Mrs. Claiborne reported that
five meetings had been held dur-
ing the year with an average at-
tendance of fifteen She pre-
sented certificates of apprecia-
tion to the officers and chairmen
and members of the special
events committee
President Claiborne then
called for reports of committee
chairmen Mrs. Hanna gave the
service report, stating 18 pati-
ents had been served with hos-
pital beds, commode chairs,
bandage and etc.
The Public Education report
was given by the president Clai-
borne who has served in that
capacity for the past year. Clai-
borne reported that 378 adults
had been reached with the show -
ing of 21 films, and 1,098 stu-
dents from Kindergarten
through High School had been
shown 15 films during the year.
She also reported that she and
Mrs. Hanna had had the privi-
ledge of meeting with Mrs
Adele Locke of Dallas, who is
State Honorary Chairman Mrs.
Locke was in Bastrop to make
television films which will be

Testing Set
For Monday
Mrs. Rhode, the County health
nurse will be giving T.B tests at
the Sayers Community Center in
Smithville on Monday, June 16.
Individuals who have not re-
cently been tested for T.B. are
urged to attend the clinic Test-
ing is free of charge

The Public Information re-
port was given by chairman,
Linda Hendrii. Mrs. Hendrix
reported that during the year all
three county papers, Bastrop
County Times, Bastrop Adver-
tiser, and Elgin Courier had
been very helpful and generous
with their publicity in all phases
of the cancer control work.
Dr Marshall, Medical Chair-
man, reported that he had been
present whenever possible at
the showing of films in the
schools to comment on them. He
had also, worked through his
office and with the other doctors
educating patients.
In the absenceof Mrs. Patton,
Memorials Chairman, the re-
port was given by Mrs Hanna
She reported Memorials for
the following:
Elgin- $11.00, Smithville--
$322.50, Bastrop--$500 28 plus
$104.04 donations, McDade---
$35.00, Square l)ance--$243.10
Crusade Chairman, Lucille
Fraim, reported that more
people had been involved in the
crusade than ever before. Bas-
trop was in the lead at this time
with a little over three thousand
dollars Not all the reports had
been received she said. Mrs
Fraim gave out certificates of
appreciation to those who had
served on her committee.
Mrs Banna, acting spokes-
man for the nominating comm-
ittee, recommended the follow-
ing slate of officers which were
elected by acclamation:
Mrs. Jeff Osborn, President,
Mrs. Irene Revetta, Vice Pre-
sident; Mrs Monroe Wilhelm,
Secretary; Mrs. H.D Patton,
Treasurer, Mrs. Vallon Hanna,
assistant Treasurer.
Delegates chosen to attend the
District meeting June 20 in Bur-
nett are:
Mrs. Mike Fisher, David
Smith, Mrs. Jeff Osborn, Rev
Ross Welsh, Mrs Raymond
Hiller, Mrs Monroe Wilhelm,
Mrs. Helen Stach, Mrs. Ken
Daughtry, Andy Davidson, Mrs
Paul Mobley.
Delegates to the Division
Annual Meeting will be Mrs Jeff
Osborn. the alternate will be
Mrs. Mike Fisher.
The speaker, Dr. John Koss,
of San Marcos was introduced
by Dr Marshall. Dr. Koss is a
graduate of Loma Linda Uni-
versity Medical School and has
been in general practice in San
Marcos for the past eight years.
He gave a very informative talk
on self examination for breast
cancer.

The Smithville Heritage Society will hold its
monthly meeting Monday, June 16, 1975 at
7:30 p.m. in City Hall. All concerned citizens
are invited to attend. The first election of
officers will be conducted at this meeting. All
members are urged to be present.
WANTED-500 citizens who will invest s5°° a
year in the Smithville Heritage Society to help
establish a museum to preserve the history of
our community. Contact John Shirocky,
