Mr. Bacon is well known in

Saturday night at 7:15 p. m.
the pastor will begin a train-
ing class to continue five weeks,
using the text, "How To Im-
prove Your Sunday School", by
Eva Callarman. This class is
open to anyone who is inter-
ested.

held March 5th, 1938, at the
City Office of Mineola, for
the purpose of nominating

Mayor and two (2) Com-

Belker Paschal
Announces For
County Attorney
Announcement is made this
week by Belker Paschal of his
candidacy for county attorney
of Wood county.
Born and raised on a farm
six miles south of Winnsboro
near the Stout community, Pas-
chal attended the schools of
Stout, East Point, Shady Grove,
Winnsboro High School, ETSTC
at Commerce, Law School of
the Jefferson and Dixie Univer-
sity of Texas, and has taken
other special school work.
He claims a record as a law-
abiding citizen as above re- j
iproach with a clean record for
the approval of the public, and
states that he expects to main-
tain that record. Being against
violations of the law of any
kind, he declares that if he is
elected that he will give strict
attention to every case pre-
sented him, and when the law
has been violated, prosecution,
not persecution, will result.
Paschal is the son of the late
Dr. J. S. Paschal. His mother,
Mrs. Delitha Paschal, still re-
sides at the old home place
near Stout.
Faschal is married and has
one son. He states that if he
is elected, he will move with
his family to Quitman, where
he will be on hand at all times
for the purpose of transacting

and what would be my plat-
form.
I endeavored to state broad-
ly in my initial announcement
what my Ideals and intentions
are which, is to promote tbe
happiness and peace of fhe
entire citizenship and advance
tine commercial interests off
the city to the end that «e
may enjoy peace and happiness
and prosper in our several
undertakings.
To be more specific, I herein
enumerate some of the meas-
ures that I shall propose.
First, I shall endeavor tc
place upon our city ordinance
books a law with teeth in it
that will regulate traffic move-
ment upon our public streets
and highways within the ettar
limits.
Secondly, I shall endeavor
to lower the rate of charges of
public service corporations*,
water, lights, and gas.
Thirdly, I shall repair tfcer
streets and alleys and main-
tain them in good condition,
that our city may present &
progressive spirit.
Fourth, I shall try to improve
our volunteer fire department
that we will be enabled to
answer alarms more promptly.
Fifth, I shall advocate the
erection of a City Hall ade-
quate to house the city officials
and mechanical equipment of
the city.
Sixth, I shall try to inaugu-
rate a plan and system where-
by the wage earner may own
his own home and pay for it
at a low rate of interest.
Seventh, I shall foster *
movement to induce other
manufacturing interests to lo-
cate here in addition to cor
bottling works, cotton oil
and the second largest
factory in the south.
The above with many
prospective and progressive
measures which space forbids
enumeration, may be ei

cooperation and assistance Of
