Kale looked over his glasses at her.
"So," he said, "you'll pose on a billboard
covered only by flower petals, but a pretty cell
phone picture gets you up in arms?"
"It's not the photo. It's what you do with
them!" Angela said waving the broken bottle,
"You'll put those pictures on the cover of some
crazy story you cooked up about how I do drugs,
or steal things, or terrorize people..."
"Well, the beer bottle is a nice touch. I
probably wouldn't have thought of that on my
own." Kale picked up a notebook and looked her
over. "So, where'd you get the boots?"
"I bought them fair and square from some
dumbasses who were too high to tell the difference
between a ten and a hundred."
"I see." He grabbed a stubby pencil from an
old mug and began writing. "And that stunning
dress? Did you buy that too?"
Angela paused. She hadn't really bought
any of her outfit, except the boots and even those
were a shady deal. She lowered the beer bottle.
"Not exactly..."
"Tell me a little about your heritage then.
Is breaking into someone's house a compliment
in your culture?" He glanced up, eyes gleaming.
