rendered by the Boy Scout Movement in helping our nation during this
crisis that their response has been most generous on all occasions. The
money contributed for Boy Scout work this year is three times greater
than for any previous year.
Contributions for Local Work
At the annual meeting a year ago, the Field Department report showed
that $637,932.60 had ben raised in sixty-seven campaigns.
This year seventy-three campaigns were conducted throughout the
country; $1,698,717.00 was contributed; $1,060,775.00 or approximately
166% increase over the preceding year. Some of these campaigns were
conducted locally, following out the campaign plans of the Field Depart-
ment. The majority, however, were conducted by the members of the
Field Department staff.
I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation of the
valuable co-operation and efficient service of Field Commissioners Cross
and Freeman, and the members of the staff who organized and conducted
these campaigns.
