FARMERS INSTITUTE
Arrangements fur Big Meeting
Iking Hade Plana For
Farmer's Congress.
Elaborate arrangements are be-
ing made by the proper parties for
the Farmers Institute which con-
venes here Saturday July 7th in
regular monthly session and ac-
cording to those plans this will be
the banner meeting of that organ-
ization. The first Saturday in each
montn is the day for the regular
meeting but for some reason pre-
sumably on account of this being
the busy season for the farmers a
meeting has not been held for sev-
eral months. This being the case
only adds importance to the coming
session and everything necessary
for a successful one is now being
done and the coming together of
this body of men is looked forward
to with an anticipation of great
good as a result. A program is
now in preparation and the ques-
tions to be considered and discussed
are interesting ones not only to
the farmer but to the business man
as well. The farmers of the coun-
ty are seemingly enthusiastic in the
movement and are well organized
with the membership continually on
the increase. It is the intention
also of those who have the arrange-
ments and plans in hand to pre-
pare for a joint meeting of the In-
stitute and the business men of

Amarillo the same dav and discuss
questions that are for the mutual
benefit of both. One is dependent
on the other and both should work
together at all times thus accom-
plishing more successfully and with
much more satisfaction the common
aims in view. Another important
matter to be discussed in the Insti-
tute is the Panhandle Farmers
Congress which convenes in this
city in September. Committees on
arrangements will be appointed
and preparations will be begun as
soon as possible for the Congress;
solicitors will gather exhibits of the
resources to be on display during
the meeting of the Congress and
which will probably be turned over
to the Exhibit Association for use
in the special car afterwards. A
number of prominent speakers and
authorities on subjects vital to the
farmer and stock raiser will be
present and special invitations will
be issued to all farmers in the state
to attend.

Valuable Mobeetie Lands.
Mr. 0. C Elliott who lives one
mile north of Mobeetie was in the
city Saturday and while here vis-
ited the Herald in its new quarters.
Mr. Elliott is a great believer in
the Panhandle country and thinks
it the future garden spot of the
state. He stated that he had re-
cently refused acash offer of ten
thousand dollars for a section of his
land and that ought to satisfy any-
body that this country is good for
something other than grass.

WHAT A DRUBBING!
A Small Crowd Witnesses The
"Slaughter of The Inno-
cents" by Amarillo.
It was a shame but it couldn't
be helped! Amarillo tried to help
the visitors but they didn't accept
and of course it was their fault.
About as poor a game as has been
seen on the local diamond feature-
less unevenly matched and as full
of errors as it could be it seemed
was the verdict of the small crowd
that witnessed the nine inning
"play around" Sunday. The Giles
boys tried hard to do something
and the two lone runs they got
were credited on errors while the
twenty-one stacked up on the home
side were walk overs. The visitors
battery although it is claimed tobt
a paid one was minus and the
support was lacking. Not one mar
but the entire personel of the tean
had errors galore. The hits off o'
Giles were few at first but as thi
game progressed became so numer
ous that all count was lost. Ama
rillo with Lewis in the box helc
the visitors down to a few hits and
after the sixth inning Wee Willie
Kitchen and Hollander each tried
their hand at slab work but Giles
just couldn't Lewis got a home
run to his credit and several two-
baggers putting the ball over the
fence a number of times. Ivvery
man on the home team took "swats"
at the ball and took them so fast
that it required three or four of the
spheres to keep the game going.
Several new men were in the game
with the local but the chances for
them to show their ability did not
come. Cook played lehind the
home plate for Lewis though he
could not handle the catchers pad
a(s Raker. The crowd was in good
humor and despite the poor work
and a cause for such they yelled
and croaked and hurrahed in fact
it seemed as if they got their mon-
eys worth.

Cured of Bright's Disease.
Geo. A. Sherman Lisbon Red
Mills Lawrence Co. N. Y. writes:
"I had kidney disease for many
years and had been treated by phy-
sicians for twelye years; had taken
a well-known kidnev medicine and
other -remedies that were recom-
mended but got no relief until I
began using Foley's Kidney Cure.
The first half bottle relieved me
and four bottles have cured me of
this terrible disease. Before I be-
gan taking Foley's Kidney Cure I
had to make water about every fif-
teen minutes day and night and
passed a brick-dust substance and
sometimes a slimy substance. I
believe I would have died if I had
not taken Foley's Kidney Cure."

Meeting Of Exhibit Association.
The Panhandle Exhibit Associa-
tion held a" meeting Saturday after-
noon in the couuty court room for
the purpose of discussing questions
relative to the organization and to
make some plans concerning the
special car of Panhandle resources
which is to be sent north and east
this fall. On account of the ab-
sence of R. R. Newcomb the chair
was declared vacant and P. L.
Person was elected to preside. Mr.
Newcomb was then elected as vice-
chairman and W. W. Crossett re-
mained as secretary. An unusual
ly large number of the real estate
men was present and the interest in
the meeting was good. Every one
present almost took part in the
discussions and the ideas brought
ut were practically along the
iame lines and showed the gentle-
nen to be heartily in accord with
he movement. Committees for the
arious works to be attended to be-
ween now and time for the start-
ng of the car were appointed and
lans made for the collection of ex-
libits. The gentlemen of the As-
ociation are aggressive and have
he Panhandle at heart and from
he way they have taken up the
vork and the push and vim that
s being put into it this section of
.he state will reap much lenefjt
is a result.
