A GREWSOME ' INCIDENT.
Iiullingerr About three years ago
a young colored girl about 14 years
pf age conceived the idea that she
desired to taste of the bitter experi-
ences of the Prodical Son which she
mistook for pleasure and freedom
deserted her home and aqualntances
and roamed among strangers not
more than 35 miles from her home;
engaged her services to a white fam-
ily whose name as yet has not been
obtained; and with whom she was
held peon and ward; was forced to
deny the fact that she bad living rela-
tives when in fact her father lived
not more than 35 miles from this
place. She would run from the sight
of any colored person who might pass
through the vicinity.
The father of the young lady did
not know of her whereabouts and
apparantly did not care. - However
this is not the most shameful part
of the story. In progress of time this
girl gave birth to a little one who
proved on its advent to be fathered
by one not identified with he Colored
Race.
It is alleged the wife of the man
for whom this Little Mother worked
did all in her power for the girl but
less than a week after birth of the
babe the mother died. It is further
alleged the burial of the Little Mother
was a disgrace to civilization. The
child bag been adopted by a Colored
family of that Community. A Colored
man of the same community dug the
grave and assisted with the burial
of the deceased.
Just before death of the Little
Mother the wife of the white family
sent for a olored woman of the com-
munity who obtained this whole story.
And it is said the officers of that
place desire an Investigation but
there seems to be no anxiety on the
part of the victim's father hence
nothing will ever be done.
This incident reminds one of the
certain scripture which reads "Be ye
not deceived God is not mocked for
whatsoever a man soweth that shall
ho reap."

section on a plot of about an acre.
This was . given- by white residents

ago to the congregation. It was
valued at only $87.72 according to
deeds. Recently an offer k of over
$75000 was made to the 'congrega-

The value of the plot is upper-j

An age.old problem of tha
Race has been solved I A cafe
way to really atralgrhten the
hair has been discovered by Dr.
E. S. Le noted Negro scientist
and inventor after yeara of
study and experimenting-. His
process makes the most stub-
born hair perfectly straight and
silky in a few minutes. It does
not destroy tha life of
- the hair or change Its
color and It la so
simple anybody can
use it With immediate
success. Its greatest
advantage however. Is
that it actually does
tha work and is abso.
lutely safe.

rule were harmful or even dan-
gerous. He proved scientifically
that nothing but heat would
soften the cellular structure of
.the fcalr without damage.
But Dr. Lee knew that hot.
comb hair stralghtenera were
slow hard to use and often cut
or burned the scalp sometimes
causing blood poisoning and
balnesa. Therefore he improved
the design of the comb and
Invented . a removable safety
guard which kept the comb from
touching the scalp at any point.
This made burns or other in-
juries Impossible.
Dr. Lee's Invention known as
the Lee Safety Hair Straighten-
er was an immediate suocess.
Thousands have .been sold at
- $3.60 each and are giving per.
ct satisfaction in all parts of
the woYld. Now however. Dr.
Lee announces a new model
which is a great an Improvement
over the original "Lee" as that
was over the old-style unguard-
ed comb.
Heretofore the comb of the
Lee Straightener has been a
casting which could not always
be made perfectly smooth. In
the Improved model Dr. Lee
retains the heat much better. In-
uses a new kind of metal which
