The influence of Consumers
Besearchand President Nix
on's consumer affairs expert
Virginia Knaur is being felt
at Ft. Hood. Since the advent
of Lt. Gen. George P. Seneff's
Work Friendly campaign the
Phantoms an investigating
team working out of III Corps
have been making informal
and unnanounced visits to post
facilities. They are reporting
on efficiency management
and most especially attitude
toward patrons no matter
what their rank.
OFFICERS' OPEN MESS
The Phantoms visited the
mess last week and enjoyed
a delightful meal. The nicest
thing about the evening was
the "Service with a Smile"
by Edith Boyer. Edith made
a recommendation from the
menu which proved to be
delicious. Edith the Chef and
the FHOOM get the Phantom
"5" Star Award.

MAIN POST EXCHANGE
The Phantoms would like to
congratulate Mrs. Zeneiski a
clerk in the watch section for
her assistance in the selection
of a watch the Phantoms
purchased last week. She was
courteous friendly and very
helpful.
The team recommends her
work as an example which
her co-workers would do well
to follow. They would find not
only more satisfied customers
but a more pleasant work day
would result.
FT. HOOD COMMISSARY
Phantom readers may be
interested to know that March
sales for the commissary ex
ceeded $1.5 million for the
first time.
Many new items have been
added to the commissary in
to in in it
specific to ethnic groups. Also
a number of items have been
re a by a a
counterparts which cost a bit
more but are of considerably
higher quality. Eighteen new
freezer-display cases have
been installed to handle a
greater selection of frozen
foods.
Managerial improvements
initiated by the DIO include
expanding commissary hours
to include Sunday rein
forcement of the "Work
Friendly" program and the
installation of two new check
out counters.
All of these factors have
contributed to the attainment
of a better commissary for
Ft. Hood families. The Phan
toms congratulte the com
missary and the DIO on this
accomplishment.
