The night was peaceful silently waiting
For that brilliant star to announce our Savior's birth.
But there was one it seemed who could not wait
So eager she to try her wings above this earth.
She held our hearts
In little hands.
Her little cries
Made no demands.
She wanted love
And found it too.
Her blessed smiles
Were ever new.
A little tear
Just now and then—
Enough to wring
The hearts of men.
Too short a time
We had her here
But those moments
We hold most dear.
And as this night
Turns into day
We thank thee God
She passed our way.
Now as the star begins to shine more bright
And He descends again upon this far-flung land
This I know—A little Christmas Angel
With wings so shiny new will have Him by the hand.
(EDITOR'S Note: This poem was inspired by Betty Lou
Hamilton who died of leukemia at the Fort Hood hospital last
Christmas Eve. During her illness the little miss who was
not quite three-years old endeared herself to the members of
the hospital staff and to all patrons who got to know her.)

No Thanks
Of course there are still a lot
of people around who insist that
drinking doesn't affect their driv
ing ability. Some even go so* far
as to state they can drive better
after a couple of cocktails or a
beer or two.
But most people take a more
intelligent attitude. They know the
evidence is against the fellows who
claim they can drive as well after
drinking.
A a a of re a as
been done on this subject in re

tablish the fact that consumption
of alcohol slows down reactions
and impairs judgment. Accident
records show the tragic relation
ship between drinking and traffic
accidents. Accident Facts the of
ficial statistical publication of the
National Safety Council states that
in 24 out of 100 fatal traffic ac
cidents that occurred in 1954 a
driver or a pedestrian had been
drinking.

danger involved are unwilling to

That's an expression you hear
more and more nowadays when
alcoholic drinks are passed around
at holiday parties.
The frequent repetition of this
expression is a very encouraging
sign. It shows that people are de
veloping a better sense of values.
.that they realize the pleasure
they get from a few drinks isn't
worth the risk involved.
Driving
their families.
The day of the daredevil who
climbs unsteadily behind the wheel
and roars away with great bravado
is gone. Even the slightly tipsy
fellow is likely to meet with dis
approving stares if he attempts to
drive. And his friends are not like
ly to be grateful for his offer of a
lift.
"No Thanks I'm driving!" is an
expression that's rapidly gaining
in popularity. And the more popu
lar it becomes the merrier Christ

this year.

Box Car Mysteries Are Explained
OMAHA Neb. The Union Pa
cific Railroad has let outsiders
in on the secret of all those num
bers stencilled on the sides of box
cars.
Every car has a serial number
for example U. P. 500077. Capacity
in pounds is "capy 100000." The
load limit and the empty weight
are also there the numbers intro
duced by "Id Lmt" and "Lt wt."
If you'd like to know where the
box car was last weighed when
empty you'll also find that infor
mation.
The birth datr and the builder
of the car are on the side. A letter
code tells the uses: B—boxcar
A—automobile R—refrigerator. A
code of A-50-21 would mean for
