The Diihmitt High School opened
Monday. September 13. with an enroll-
ment of 100. The parents and friends
of the schoo' showed their Interest by
coming In large numlters to the open-
ing. A numlier of good speeches were
made. Hon. Mark Cowaert gave an in-
teresting talk on the educational de-
mands of the age; showing that the
school children of this generation are
expected to hold up the standards of
civilisation ami advancement. Judge
Kerr very ably reviewed the schools of
yesterday as compared with modern
schools. Being a retired teacher of fif-
teen years experience. Judge Kerr can
appreciate the advance* made In school
work. He lias a very deep personal
interest in this school, having had four
children graduate from the Ulmmitt
High School. County Superintendent
of Schools Wood lee, also an ex-teacher.
Is a "live wire" In Caatro County
school work.
The 4'rimary Department Is under
the direction of Jllss Ola Parks, who
needs no introduction to this district a*
she has worked here before. Miss El-
sie Smith is teacher of the Intermed-
iate department. She comes highly
recommended as a teacher of ability.
Superintendent Itelew has had ten
years experience in the rural and hitrh
schools of Texas. Mrs. Woodlev, the
music teacher, has u record of accom-
plishment la-hind her that speak* vol-
umes for her ability.
