Detailed plana for making the Here-
ford Fair of 1890 the biggest thing of
the kind erer undertaken here are
slowly bnt surely taking shape from
day to day. Special committees to
handle different phaasa of the work are
being pat to work by General Manager
Neal. The ladles division of the dis-
play is now receiving a great deal of
attention, and it Is planned to make
this feature even bigger than erer be-
fore. The ladies' committees will prob-
abbly be announced by Mr. Keal next
week.
The Scott Decorating Co., who
handled the street decorations and
merchants' booths so successfully last
year, has again been employed to do
the work this year. Mr. Neal is dick-
ering with it Carnival concern which
promises to bring here a complete show
of every description, free from the
usual objections! features of such
amusement*. It is hoped to secure the
sen-ices of expert Judges for the differ-
ent livestock and agricultural exhibits.
The A & M College has been asked to
send an expert judge of hogs, sheep,
horses, etc. and It is possible that an
American Poultry Association Judge
may lie obtained for this department of
the exhibit.
Work on the new barn and pavillion
of the Registered Hereford Breeders'
Association is being pushed, and the
different exhibits will prolmbly be
hunched n rounds this new structure.
The Hereford display is in clutrge of
the association officers and will, of
course, be the largest and one of the
most complete departments of the an-
nual event. The breeders all have
their cattle in gVeat shape this year,
uu<l the beautiful of blooded aristo-
crats is sure to draw an Interested
crowd of cattiemeu from distant
points.
Manager Neal urges all the citizens
this community to give some Indiv-
idual thought to the forth-coming Fair
and save good ■peclmens, of whatever
nature, to help in uiakinic it a success.
It is (stinted out that this is the best
year Hereford has had in years to put
a cracker into a real display of live-
stock and agriculture. There is no th-
ine that can prevent the banner display
of all time if the people will Join hands
and cooperate with those upon whose
shoulders the burden of making the
Fair a success has fallen. ,

first day of the new school term, a to-
tal of 004 pupils were enrolled by the
teachers at the High and Central

hoped to have all comfortably taken
care of. Work in all grades is starting
off auspiciously, and tin' prospects are
j bright for a splendid school year.
Another problem confronting the
school authorities Monday was the
large number of six year olds whose
iwrents desired them to attend school.
Owing to the lack of room these little
tots were turned back home. The
school Im ard is trying to figure out a
way to employ a special teacher, paid
|by tuition fees, to take charge of this
■lass of begiuuers.
