lifford Johnson, Sr. a loving father, devoted husband, andfun-loving "Papa" died at the
age of 81 He was born on September25,1921 in Jerrell, Texas to the union of the late
Johnnie and Willie Johnson. Clifford Sr., who was affectionately referred to as "Daddy"
"Papa" or "Uncle Tush" was a joy to be around. With his carefree spirit, he always greeted
you with a great smile and giving heart. His sisters and brothers will always remember his
kind nature. His children will never forget his compassion, friendship and guidance. His
grandchildren willforever remember his warm hugs, the fishing trips, gardening lessons and
most of all his gentle and encouraging words. Clifford, Sr. was full of life and lived everyday
helping others.
As a young man, Clifford, Sr. established a relationship with Jesus Christ and joined Zion
Chapel Baptist Church under Reverend T.B. Reed. He attended Blackshire High School in
Taylor, Texas until entering the Civil Conservation Camp. He later joined the United States
Navy.
In the early 40's, Clifford met the love of life and united in holy matrimony with Lucile
Williams on August 15,1942. They were married 47years before Lucile preceded him in
death. To this union four children were born. Raymond Aaron Johnson, Clifford Johnson, II,
Brenda Gayle Johnson Easier, and Rafael Johnson. Clifford, Sr. raised his family on the
westside of San Antonio where they have years of fond memories, family outings and ball
games. The Johnson family attended Mt, Ararat Baptist Church, where Clifford Sr. served as
a Deacon, under Reverends James Kimple, and then Jim Richardson. He began his career as
a civil servant with Kelly Air Force Base and retired after 33 years of service. He also worked
at the Southwest Research Institute for 19 years. In his last years, Clifford moved his
membership to Second Baptist Church under Reverend Robert Jemerson.
Cherishing the life and memory of Clifford, Sr. are his children, Raymond Aaron Johnson,
Clifford Johnson, Jr., Brenda Gayle Johnson Easier, and RafaelJohnson, and Son-in-law, Mike
Easier. His ten grandchildren, RaDonda Johnson, Antoinette Latham, Dana, Clifford III, and
Candice Johnson, Misty, Khyla, and Shandi Easier; and Raphael Jr. and Anitra Johnson,
eight great-grandchildren, five sisters, Bernice "Nita" Nelson, Etta Lee "Nump" Hill, Alice
"Baby" Collins, LaverneJohnson, andFrancineJones; two brothers, Johnnie "Honey"
Johnson, and David "Chachi" Johnson. He also leaves fond memories to many nieces,
nephews, relatives, and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Johnnie and
Willie Johnson, wife, Lucile Johnson, brothers, Elijah Johnson, Lafaid Johnson and sister
Leola Hooi'.
