| The past week has been very eventful and rediculous
as I have experienced it. Wednesday afternoon Rev.C.Ww
Hearon of the Meth.Church,A? Ray Rector,Kodak man,and
[ decided to takeaflying trip to Ft.Worth in my Buick
lto o see the army review Thursday. We had only 6 blowouts
two oil leaks sprung,and ran over a cow,killing her
instantly. The pleasure of seeing the review has been
overshadowed by our chagrin at having so many awful
and expensive accidents..The cow cost us $40.00;
damages orithe car, $10.00;other accidents,$10.00;
running expences, 12.00 for all three(meals,rooms etc.)
The accident with the cow happened 10 miles west of i
I Breckinridge,returning from Ft.Worth(wehad na bcoz) i
we were running along at the rate of about 18 miles
per at 3:30 a.m.when suddenly the cow jumped infront
of us from the darkness too close to think about
0
stopping before we crashed into her,her head and neck
-
.jamming into the left fender and her shoulder and left
leg striking our left wheel wrenching the tire complet!
ly from the wheel,turned us into the embankment to thel
left which we scaled,stopping only in time to save thej
fence from a similar demolishing. The car was shaken j
up considerably as well as ourselves,but the only dam-4
age done ^s d erntes er battery loose from its
grounding-easily remedied but it was 6 hours before
we found the trouble. We are extremely thankful that
we were not killed nor even scratched. If that innoce
cow had been the kaiser I would have felt amply repaid
for the trouble and expense of the trip. The whole
city of Stamford is having great sport at our expensei
over the affair,and we are enjoying it as much as any
Ofhem.
