A detailed explanation of the
| complete reading program being
; c o n d u c t e d at Sacred Heart
School, Rockne, was given at the
Sacred Heart School, PTA meet
ing. January 31.
Mrs. Horace Fohn, progiam
chairman, introduced the speak
ers.
Sistir Alysious O. S. I!., gave
a paper on the entire reading
j program in the grammcr school,
grades. To illustrate a specific
method she gave a demonstrat
ion of a typical fourth grade
class, in which the parents pre-
sent participated as students.
Sister Mary Christina O. S. B.
reviewed a first grade reading
b o o k. She demonstrated the
system used for teaching begin-
ners with emphasis on phonetics.
Rev. Claude A. Faust gave a
brief explanation of the remedial
reading cour.-e in the higher
grade-. He explained furthei
plan.- foi substituting the present
course by the SRA Remedial
reading plan.
Alfred Klau presided at tiie
brief meeting following the pro-
gram.
The PTA voted to purchase
the SRA Remedial Reading
Cour.-e explained by Father dur
ing the program.
Mrs. Horaci Fohn, program
chairman, announced that at the
Eeburary meeting a continued
explanation of the Papal Ency
clical on Christian Education will
be given by Father Faust.
Mi -. Ado pi H o f f m a n, 4-H
chairman, announced that 4-H
emblems will be purchased by
the 4 H members of the com
niuity. These will be worn at the
Rural Life Sunday Services. On
thi- day the group will receive
Holy Communion in a body.
Rev. Claude A. Faust announc-
ed that in the near future the
PTA will affiliate with the
National Catholic Home and
School Association.
Mrs. Vernon Bartsch invited
the ladies ti attend a H D Cloth-
ing Workshop, and ask them to
inform hei if they are interested
in participating in an Upholstery
Workshop.
