His conclusion is a manly fare-

Talk on the Streets.
To-day two friends met on the
streets and the following conver
sation was overheard by those
siandingnear after tbe usual cer
emony of liandshaking.
"Well John, are you going to
vote for a mayor and aldermen
tbat will run tbe city further in
debit"
"Yes, I am, and never will I
vote for a man to fill any position
f 1 think he will not favor im-
>roving our streets."
"I'm surprised at you, John, a
sober mechanic to talk that way.
! Don't you know it will improve
the rich man's brick blocks and
raise our taxes?
"Yes, I believe it will do all
tbat, but don't you fret about
whether the rich man's brick
blocks are worth $10,000 or a $1,-
000,000, we'll never be able to buy
one unless we strike a streak of
luck, and then we can stand it or
nvest our capital in something
else. My dear friends, those
biick block men pay more taxes
n one year than any of us wi'l
jay in ten. The poor man owns
