sold lots to F. W. Norton for

chase of the property of Mr. Jno.

and Jefferson streets at a cost

didn't see any reason for passing
the ordinance at the last moment,
just as the old board were about
to step out of oflice. That he
proposed to let the future council
shoulder the burden, and wheth-
er they passed the bill or not the
present council would uot be to
blame.
While a majority of the council
were rather tender-footed and
leaning back takiug their ease the
Maysr rose and stated that there
was a motion before the house to
adopt the ordinance, and called
(ut a vote, resulting in the ordi-
nance being passed by a majority.

gation of the charges made against
the ch-ivers of the fire department
at lust meeting and recommended
that they be exonerated from all
blame whatever.
Motion that tho report be re-
ceived and adopted. Carried.
