We understand that there is
an effort being made to put in
the second telephone exchange
in Seymour, to which the News
would say that if Seymour sus-
tains one good exchange it is
doing well and has a heavy
enough tax along that line to
bear without attempting to keep
two poor and inefficient lines.
Take our advice and leave oft
one. Two is worse thau none.

Business has been dull in
Seymour the past week, on ac-
count, we presume, of the bad
weather.

been in session at Dallas the
past Week.

8 miles west of Vernon. One
sorrel mare and colt, branded J.
I. connected witli — under it on
eft shoulder. One irou grey
horse bracded W E D on left

address Edgar McBride, Berlin,

A Killing At Guthrie.
Last Saturday at Guthrie, Tex-
as, Sheriff White Moore of King
county shot and killed Olmrley
Upton. Th6 particulars, as near
as we can learn>are as follows :
Upton who at one time run a
, was
in the saloon quarrelling with
some one else and the Sheriff en-
tered to quell the disturbance, af-
ter doing so, he went out at the
back door and the man Upton
went out at the front and catue
around the house meeting tbe
Sheriff and shooting one shot
which cut the hat brim of the
Sheriff. The Sheriff then drew
his pistol, tiring three shots. The
first hit the instep of Uptou's
foot, causing him to drop his pis
tol. The other two shotB of the
Sheriff hit Upton's body, Irom
which he died Monday. From
this we would conclude t^at the
Sheriff had only acted in selfde
fence, therefore the case is notb
ing more than justifiable homi-
cide. We learn that he has not
been arrested and will probably
never be indicted.

The low price
at which Arbuckles' famous
roasted coffee can be sold is made
possible by its enormous sale. It should
not be classcd with the iuferior imitations sold at
a cent a pound less than Arbuckles'. It has a '
quality greatly superior to these Imitations and
makes many more cupfuls to the pound. No other
firm in the world can buy coffee to so good advantage
as the producers of Arbuckles'Coffee. No other coffee
is cleaned, roasted or blended with such great care and .
skill. When you buy Arbuckles' you get better
quality and greater value than you can get in any
other coffee at anywhere near the same price.
You also get with each package a
definite part in som$msefttl article.
Full information with each package.

of the Hayden-Cranfill ease now
in progress at Dallas, but *there
has not been anything of interest
in the papers for the past week.
All that has been doue . in- the
case bo far as we have seen is the
filing of amended petitions, de-
murrers aud such oilier motions
and pleadirg of this nature, which
is of wo interest to the publio.
Your attention is respectfully
called to the neat, large, adver-

The claiiu u inner cougu medicines
to be as good as Chamberlain's ate
effectually set at rest in tbe following
testimonial of Mr. C. D. Glass, au
employ of Bartlett & Dennis Co..,
Gardiner, Me. Re sayB: "I had
cept adding to a cold and cough in
the winter of 1897, trying every cough
medicine I heard of without perma-
nent help, until one day I was in.the
drug store of Mr. Houlehan aud he
advised me to try Chamberlain's
ough Remedy and offered to pay
jack my money if I was not cured.
My lungs and bronchial tubus were
sore at this time, but I was complete-
ly cured by this remedy, aad have
since always turned to it when I got'
a cold, and soon find relief. I also
recommend it to my friends and am
glad to say it is the best of al) cough
medicines." Fcr sale by Forrest -
