TO CUT A LONG TALK SHORT
We'll tell you frankly, ttouj we have got a lot of stuff here
in the line of lunil>er and building material, that we're will-
ing to swap for about two thirds of its actual value. If you
are going to do any building or fixintr up about the place
soon it'll pay you to get wise to this price quality combina-
tion and buy what you need RIGRT NOW.
Talk about getting In on the gi oud lloor. Whyl This is a
cinch compared with ordinary ground tloor otters. You've
got to liave the lumber. It only a question of how Ion# you
can put off buying it, and when you can buy the cheapest,
that looks, from where we sit, like about the time you should
pick out to buy. Better let us make you an estimate on what
you need.

THE DEMOCRAT 50c THE YEAR.
GtaderboM'i Joif Forecast
It «h July the seventh,
And Denver watt if ay
With flags and with bunting,
And hip and hooray,
And the man in tjjyt chair
Mopped the place where his hair
Was wonted to grow,
And hu said, "Just to show
The humor we're in,
I am going to ask
For a bon mot from Bryan
Of Lincoln, Nebrask."
There was wit in his smile
As the 1'eerless One bowed
And stilled the applause
Of the good-natured crowd
With a wave of his hand;
And he said in his bland,
Oratorical way, '
"We are gathered today
On the bank of the Platte
Where it's clear waters lap
The feet of the hills,
As you'll find on the map."
His smile, was as soft **
As the breeze in the oak,
And the multitude wondered,
Unguftssing the joke,
Till he said' "Seeing that
We ere right on the Platte,
It ought to lie true
That the country will view
Our party, my friends,
To be just exact,
As the only one having
A Platte-form in fact.
July was named for Julius
Caesar by Mark Anthony. Mark
was Caesar's protege. His ca-
reer was very much like that of
Mr. Taft. Caesar liked him,
and whenever he came around
the great dictator would slap
him on the back with some such
exclamation as "Mark, I will
make you a tribune!" He kept
his word, too, and always deliv
ered the goods to Mark at the
Romanconventions. Mark made
the funeral oration for Caesar,
and he stirred up the Roman
populace until it wrecked the
baseball park looking for Brutus
and the rest of the Mafia. He
was also the originator of the af-
finity idea. His affinity was Cle-
opatra, and every time he re-
turned from Egypt, his wife and
his mother-in-law met him at the
dock with a set of golf clubs.
He eventually became the virtual
ruler of Egypt, instituted local
option and other reforms, barged
with the queen upon the moonlit
Nile, and killed himself while he
was happy, knowing it couldn't
last.
The bill sent in by Teddy's side
For services to date,
Has been received and duly filed
Till we can liquidate;
About the third the household bills
Will all come down the line,
But the Democratic party will
Not render us its White House Bill
Until July the nine.
July the Fourth will dawn
again, diverting circumstance,
and the bubbling boy will light
his punk before he finds his
pants. He'll roll down stairs
with screams of joy, cotemptu-
ous of hurt, and start the battle
when he burns the tail off of his
shirt,
The youthful cannoneer will
charge his powder by the pound,
and while he does it many kids
will boldly crowd around. He'll
light the fuse, and they will skip;
but when they fail to get the
proper thrill they'll go to see if it
is lighted yet. A loud ker-bang
(a scurvy thing a cannon some-
times does) ami the angels look-
ing down will sigh, "By hoky-
poke, it was!"
When Kngland and her tyrant king
Got too almighty skittish,
The angry patriots turned out
And blew up all the British;
And when the Fourth comes round
again,
With no one to forbid it,
We all blow one another up,
To show them how we did it.
On the 22nd the sun will enter
the Zodiacal sign of Leo the
Lion. This will make Mr. Roose-
velt roar, and mollycoddle, nature
fakirs, rich malefactors, reac-
tionaries and lairs will take to
their holes. Sea lions will terri-
tory the navy recruit, and labor
will knock off every twenty min-
utes and rush the growler.
Boys born,, under Leo make
good harvest hands and want $8
a day. They have a keen sense
of smell, and start for the house
before the meals are half cooked.
They roar upon very slight pro-
vocation, never pay their bills
until the gas is shut off, and gen-
erally get the lion's share of an
estate if appointed administrator
The music of the binder will
Be heard across the mere,
And the water boy will hunt the shade
And sweetly pound his ear,
The states that voted dry will pant.
And the boozers will defy
The foe to take another vote
In August or July.
The wife and children will re-
sort where they can swim and
sail, and they'll write for money
every time the boat takes out the
mail. They'll keep poor Papa,
saving man, a digging in his
jeans, and while they're eating
pompano, he'll make out on sar
dines. They'll also live on moun-
tain trout, and muskelonge and
croaker, and Pa will try to pay
for it witli what he wins at poker.
He'll cheat like Bret Harte's Chi-
naman, and when he shall be-
seech forgiveness down upon his
knees and heaven seems out of
reach, his plea shall be, "Forgive
me, Lord, my folks are at the
beach!"
And Helie dear will honeymoon
With Anna his to hold,
And he will sign "Ma chere,. you
Are worth your weight in gold."
Whereat she'll say while kissing him
Beneath her broad brimmed hat,
"But, dear, I don't weigh what I did
When Bonl told me that."
And then hot August will re-
turn, and John D. get in line and
pay the twelfth installment on
that thirty million fine.

Kennedy's Laxative Cough Syrup is
the one that children like so well to
take as it tastes nearly as good as
maple sugar. It is different from the
others as it does not constipate, but
on the other hand it acts gently yet

drives the cold from the system. It is
