The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet

Sweetwater Little League
Player Sign Ups
Sweetwater Little League will be having
sign ups on Thursday, Jan. 19, for the Major
(ages 11-12), Junior (ages 13-14) and Senior
(ages 15-16) Leagues from 6-8 p.m. at the
Sweetwater Intermediate School Cafeteria.
Cost for Major League is $60 per player
plus $10 concession. Cost for Junior and
Senior League is $95 per player. *Opt out
for fundraiser is $20 or sell at least seven

Saturday, Jan. 21
Sandwich Fundraiser
The Sweetwater Fastpitch Softball
Association will be having a brisket sand-
wich fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on
Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Lions Club build-
ing. Cost is $5 for a sandwich, chips and
drink. All proceeds will go towards the 2012
softball season. For more information, call

Tuesday, Jan. 24
Budgeting Workshop
The West Central Texas Center for
Economic Opportunity, in partnership with
First Financial Bank, will provide a free
home budgeting workshop on Tuesday,
Jan. 24, from 6-8 p.m. at 1102 North 3rd St.
The workshops cover basic home budgeting
concepts and review money management
principles. Attendees will receive a general
budget example and one-on-one time to
set up personalized budgets; daily tracking,
expenses and income will also be discussed.
Community members may call 325-672-
8980 to reserve a seat. Assistance with
credit checks, financial counseling, and
tax return preparation is available upon
request.
Wednesday, Jan. 25
Babygarten
J.P. Cowen Early Childhood Center and
the County-City Library announce a new
program, 'Babygarten'. This unique pro-
gram helps parents and caregivers learn
ways to nurture reading readiness and social
/emotional emergent skills of infants and
toddlers. Babygarten provides parents with
the tools they need to help entertain, com-
fort, observe and perhaps understand their
child during these first few years of life. You
and your child are welcome to attend the
first session of Babygarten on Wednesday,
Jan. 25, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at J.P. Cowen
Early Childhood Center. Babygarten will be
held each Wednesday at this time through
Feb. 29. Registration is free and available to
children birth through two years of age. Call

Sweetwater Little League
Open Sign Ups
If you missed any of the scheduled sign
up dates for the Sweetwater Little League,
come out to the open sign ups at the

player is as follows: T-Ball - $45 plus $10

Youth Arena Football
The Sweetwater Youth Football
Association will be accepting applica-
tions for youth arena football. The grade
levels for this year's team is current
fifth and sixth grades. Contact Heather
Holsey at 721-9582 for more informa-
tion or a registration form.
Book Donations Sought
The County-City Li bran is currently
accepting donations of both adult and
children hardback and paperback books,
magazines and videos for the annual
book sale which will be held Aug. 27
and 28 at the Nolan County Coliseum
Annex. Come to the garage door in the
alley behind the library to unload the
donations during business hours. Call
235-4978 a few minutes before arriv-
ing at the library to enable staff to be
ready to help. The hours of the library
are Monday from 1-6 p.m., Tuesday
through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Reckner Account
A benefit account had been set up for
Paul Reckner at First Financial Bank,

recently went through back surgery and
has been readmitted with an infection.
All donations will go towards medical
bills and travel expenses due to his hos-
pitalization.
January Artist of the Month
The January Artist of the Month at the
County-City Library is Larry Cornoyer.
His artwork is displayed in the com-
munity room of the library. The hours
of the library are Monday from 1-6 p.m.,
Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Garrett Account
A benefit account has been set up
at Roscoe State Bank to assist Janice
Garrett, who lost all of her belonging in
the fire at Jack Lambert Apartments on
May 15, 2011. To make a contribution, go

Torres Account
An account has been set up for Coralyn
Torres at First Financial Bank to help
pay for medical expenses. Coralyn suf-
fered a brain aneurysm on March 21.
After being in ICU for three weeks,
she is undergoing physical therapy at
Transitional Learning Center in Lubbock.

New students are now being accepted
for GED classes. Classes are Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.
