Recently some of the members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints tied three quilts to
send to those in need in Japan. Some of those who participated were Shirley Church, John and Nancy Verschoor,
Toby Milani, Christian and Sue Ulbrich, Willie Mae Green, Margaret Bishop and the two missionaries, Elder
Durfey and Elder Jacobsen. The quilts will be sent to Salt Lake and then forwarded with other humanitarian
supplies from the Church headquarters to Japan.

The three day mission trip "for the glory of
God" led Sweetwater resident and Word of God
pastor Dale Stowe — along with missionary
Larrv Goff — through a "glorious trip" that began
on April l, 2011.
Stowe and Goff went into three areas, includ-
ing the Mexican cities of Nuevo Laredo and
Reynosa, where a majority of the work was
done.
The first day was spent preparing camp in
Donna, Texas but as they crossed the border into
Reynosa, Stowe said that he saw people in need.
He recalled seeing people in oppression and bur-
dened down due to the presence of the cartels.
Most of all, he saw people in uncertainty,
During the trek into Reynosa, Stowe was sur-
prised to see the town still busy with their typical
on-goings, but some stores, however, were shut
down from the cartels. He remembered seeing
the strong presence of military with their gear
and equipment, calling it a symbol of spiritual
darkness.
On the outskirts of the city, more people
were afflicted and Stowe noted that amid all the
turmoil, the people were almost desensitized
to what was going around them. Yet, any time
some sort of action occurred, the people would
be brought back to their harsh reality.
In each city, Stowe and Goff had to find a taxi
driver willing to transport them. In Reynosa, the
men were fortunate enough to find one willing
to work alongside them. With each journey, over
100 pounds of beans and rice were purchased to
distribute to the people.
"It wasn't easy to blend in. We stood out
very much," recalled Stowe, being two white
American men in a city full of Mexican residents.
Regardless, they were able to share their vision
of sharing God to the people in the cities and the
stores and were able to get the help they needed
to minister. Eventually, the people opened up to
Stowe and Goff and began asking questions.
Stowe is always apt to mention that the entire
trip was Spirit-led. His proof of that was when

COME GROW WITH US!
COMING SOON!
Following morning worship service on Sunday, April 10, 2011, Trinity Baptist Church broke ground for a much-anticipated
Family Life Center.
"To God Be the Glory" was the phrase
most uttered at Trinity Baptist Church this
past Sunday, April 10, 2011. It was following
morning worship this day that the Trinity
Church Family broke ground for a much-
anticipated Family Life Center. The com-
munity is invited to watch the blessings in
progress as you travel down Hailey Street in
your daily commute. The first signs of con-
struction should be evident soon.
Back in 1956, the church's founding
fathers built a strong building, meant to
last through generations to come. It is the
Trinity Church Family's intent, with God's
help, to build the same type of facility in
order for the future generations of the
church to enjoy the blessings God sends.
With this new Family Life Center, the
Trinity Family will be able to enjoy fellow-
ships with everyone in one place rather
than scattered ; iout. The new facility will
serve as an activity center (with 17' high
finished ceilings) and a meeting place for
large and small groups, complete with a
new* larger kitchen area. There will also
be a new entrance to the church where the
senior adults will have parking spaces on
level ground to aid in their entrance into
the building. Also included in the plans are
an open foyer near the entrance, facilitat-
ing the gathering enjoyed between Sunday
school and worship, New restrooms wi
also be part of the plai: Eventually, a full
renovation of the lower floor of the educa-
tion building and offices will be completed.
The Trinity family has plans to complete
as much of the construction themselves as
feasible, with their work being considered
an "investment" in Trinity's future. "Come
grow with us, and join us for worship at
1506 Santa Fe here in Sweetwater. You will
be blessed, as will we."
