Canned Food Donation
Persons are asked to bring canned
items for donation to the Nolan County
Food Pantry when Sweetwater plays
Wylie at Mustang Gym on Monday, Fe
7. The items will be accepted starting
with the JV games at 4:30 p.m. and con-
tinuing through the varsity girls and boys
games to follow. All canned food dona-
tions are greatly appreciated.
Big Country Dance
The Big Country Dance will be held
from 7:30-10:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb.
7, at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex.
Admission is $5 per person and enter-
tainment will be provided by Exit 249.
Tuesday, Feb. 8
Sweetwater Auto-Tire
Sweetwater Auto-Tire, located at 1509
Lamar Street in Sweetwater, will have
their grand opening event from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011. There
will be refreshments and giveaways.
Masons
The Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571
will be holding a neeting on Tuesday,
Feb. 8. Dinner will start at 5:30 p.m.,
with the meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m.
It will be held at the Sweetwater Masonic
Lodge located at 324 Oak.

Roscoe Brown Bag
Roscoe Brown Bag pickup will be
from 3:30-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9,
2011, at Roscoe First United Methodist
Church.
Adult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the
County-City Library. Instructors will help
yo learn to read, improve your reading
skills, improve your English skills or help

Story Hour
Story Hour at the County-City Library
for parents and their children will be
held at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10.
Library staff will lead the parents and
children in stories and song.
Saturday. Feb. 12
Valentine's Dance
A Valentine's dance and dinner, spon-
sored by the American Legion Riders,
will take place on Saturday, Feb. 12, at
Roscoe American Legion Post 227. The
meal will be served at 7 p.ir , prepared
by Royce Walker. Music will be provid-
ed by J&R DJ Music. There will be door
prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Admission
is $10 each or $15 per couple. All pro-
ceed will benefit the American Legion
Roof Fund.

Cholesterol Screen ig
The Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital
will sponsor a free cholesterol screening
from 8:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb.
17, at the Sweetwater-Nolan County
Health Department, located at 301 E.
12th Street in Sweetwater. Cholesterol
can play a critical role in a person's
health. It's important that all people
know what their cholesterol level is and
how it affects their risk of developing
heart disease. People also need to learn
about all risk factors for heart disease.
Saturday, Feb. 19
Ridin' for Cash Bull Bash
The Second Annual Ridin for Cash
Bull Bash will take place Saturday, Feb.
19. Doors open at 5 p.m. and b bash
starts at 7 p.m. at the Nolan County
Coliseum in Sweetwater. Cost for adults
is $10, children $5 and children under
five years of age get in free. All proceeds
will benefit the visually impaired chil-
dren in Nolan and Fisher Counties.

February Art Exhibit
The February art exhibit at the County-
City Library is a quilling display by Betty
Oliver of Abilene. The hours for the library
are Monday from 1-6 p.m., Tuesday through
Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Free Income Tax Return
Preparation
AARP and IRS will sponsor as a pub-
lic service free income tax return prepara-
tion, including e-file at the Fisher County
Courthouse in Roby on March 3 and March 31
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; at SNAP in Sweetwater
on March 1, and April 5, from 9 a.m. to 2
p.m.; at Senior Citizen Center on Ave. M in
Snyder on Feb. 9, Feb. 23, and March 23
from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and at Mitchell County
Libraiy, 340 Oak Street in Colorado City on
Feb. 7, March 14, and April 11, from 9 a.m.
to 2 p.m.
Bring the following:
• Two forms of identification such as a
driver's license and Social Security card/
Form SSA-1099/ITIN Card or letter;
• Last year's tax return;
• Dependent's and spouse's Social Security
cards and their birth dates including chil-
dren; and
• Property tax receipts.
There are credits for first-time home
buyers. Bring receipts for energy efficient
appliances or energy improvements to your
homes.
American Opportunity Education (full
time college students). The Hope credit is
extended for all four years of college. Bring
evidence of those if you qualify or ask us if
you may qualify. Parents should claim col-
lege tuition, books etc. for better benefits.

DivorceCare
A new session of DivorceCare began at
Trinity Baptist Church, 1506 Santa Fe, on
Wednesday, Jan. 12. Classes are held each
Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the
church and are facilitated by Bill Arey.
DivorceCare is a seminar and support group
for couples in crisis or those seeking on-
going support and encouragement following
a divorce. The course is designed for entry at
any level of the 13-week class. This group is
led by people who understand what you are
going through and want to help. You will gain
access to valuable DivorceCare resources
to help you deal with the pain of the past
and look forward to rebuilding your life.
Workbooks for the course are $15. You may
call the church office at 235-2991 for more
information or to register for the current
class. Names and circumstances of persons
attending are strictly confidential.
Flu Vaccine Reduced
The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department has reduced the cost of the flu
vaccine to $15. Immunization clinics are held
every Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and
1-4:30 p.m. and on the second Wednesday of
the month until 6 p.m.
GED Classes
New students are now being accept-
ed for GED classes. Classes are Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to
noon and Wednesdays and Thursdays from
6-9 p.m. Classes are free and are held at 1200
Henderson in the old PPI building. For more
information, call Donna Lee at 235-5903.
Veterans Readjustment
Counseling Services
The Veterans Readjustment Counseling
Services are the community-based profes-
sionals within the VA who welcome home
the war veteran by providing top-quality
compassionate readjustment assistance to
the veteran and their family in order to
facilitate a successful return to Chilian life
within their community. They offer indi-
vidual, group, marital and family counseling
to Combat Veterans of all wars and their
families. Counseling is also available to any
Veteran who experienced any form of sexual
harassment or sexual assault while serving in
the military. In addition, bereavement coun-
seling is afforded to the families who have
lost their service member while on Active
Duty. A Vet Center Counselor will be avail-
able in Sweetwater on Thursdays beginning
in December to better serve the surrounding
community. The Taylor County Vet Center
looks forward to serving Veterans and their
families in this community. For more infor-

Coats For Kids
Donations of gently worn coats for children
can be dropped off at Bahlman Cleaners,
located at 910 E. Third Street in Sweetwater.
Parks Being Winterized
As of Nov. 24,2010, The City of Sweetwater
Public Works Department will be winterizing
all Parks, Sweetwater Cemetery and Lake
Sweetwater campground restrooms by turn-
ing off the water to these facilities for the
remainder of the cold season. For informa-
tion concerning the use of park facilities,
please contact the Sweetwater City Service
Center at 325-235-1297 or 325-235-5003.
Men's Downtown Bible Class
Every Sunday, at 9 a.m., the Men's
Downtown Bible Class will meet at the
Masonic Lodge. An invitation is extended to
all men to come and enjoy coffee, donuts and
worship before church. The Masonic Lodge
is located on the corner of Oak and 4th.
Woman's Forum
The Sweetwater Woman's Forum meets
every last Tuesday of the month at Bee's
Decor.
Mustang Blankets, Totes
Mustang Moms are selling Mustang
blankets and Mustang shoulder tote bags.
Blankets are 20 and the tote bags are 6 and
are a perfect size for gym clothes. Be looking
for them at the Mustang games or contact
Benita Crain at 236-5119, Kristie Fox at 235-
2087, or any Mustang Mom will be able to
help you.
Self Defense Clinic
Team Chip Tae Kwon Do will offer a free
women's self defense clinic, to be held the
second Tuesday of every month. The clinic
is open to ladies ages 12 and up. It will be at
Team Chip in Sweetwater, located at 1500
Cypress in Sweetwater at 7:30 p.m.
SHS Yearbooks
2010 Sweetwater High School yearbooks
may be picked up in Room 216 at SHS. A few
extra copies are available to purchase.
Lady Mustangs
The Sweetwater Lady Mustangs are hav-
ing several fundraisers this year including
the sale of Lady Mustangs t-shirts and Lady
Mustang window decals. Call 235-1170 or see
a Lady Mustang to order.
Kiwanis Club
The Sweetwater Kiwanis Club meets at
noon every Wednesday, at Bee's Decor, locat-
ed at 311 Oak Street.
