Story Hour
Story Hour at the County-City Library
for parents and their children will be
held at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9.
Library staff will lead the parents and
children in stories and songs. Call 235-

Saturday, Dec. 11
Craft Sale
Some of the ladies at Broadway Baptist
will have a craft sale on Saturday, Dec.
11,from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Some of the
items for sale will be beaded jewelry,
crocheted afghans and other crocheted
items, baking goods, bows of all kinds,
decorative crosses and a few garage sale
items. It will be held in the MOPS room,
which you will find the signs east of the
church office door on 710 E. Third Street.
This event is open to the public.
Sunday, Dec. 12
Cowboy Church
The Way Cowboy Church invited the
public to come to a service at 10:30
a.m., followed by lunch and a horse-
manship clinic given by Eddy Roby. For

CR 446, between FM 419 and FM 611 in

Monday, Dec. 13
Basketball Signups
The Mustang Youth Basketball League
will hold their annual sign up from 5:30-
7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13 and Tuesday,
Dec. 14, at the new East Ridge Elementary
School library building. Students who
are currently in the third through sixth
grades are eligible to participate. A child
who is 11 years old before April 1, 2011,
must play in Division II. A child who is
13 years old before April 1, 2011, is not
eligible to participate. Parents should
bring their child's birth certificate and
registration fee of $30 as well as com-
plete a registration/permission form. No
late registrations will be accepted. League
play will begin in January 2011. For more

Blowout Meeting
An organizational meeting for Blowout
2011 will be held at 5:15 p.m. on Monday,
Dec. 13, in the cafeteria at East Ridge
Elementary School. All high school par-
ents are encouraged to attend. For more

Masons
Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #571 will
have a stated meeting on Tuesday, Dec.
14. Dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and a
meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. Members
are urged to attend.
Wednesday, Dec. 15
Flu Clinic
The Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department will continue to adminis-
ter the flu vaccine on Wednesdays dur-
ing regular immunization clinic. Their
next immunization clinic will be held
Wednesday, Dec. 15 from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
and 1:30-4:30 p.m. Cost is $20 for adults,
$6 for children (6 months through 18
years). They accept Medicare Part B and
Medicaid and CHIPS for children only.

Cha mber/SEED Open House
The public is invited to attend a holi-
day open house hosted jointly by the
Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce and
the Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic
Development (SEED) from 10:30 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, at the
Chamber building, located at 810 E.
Broadway.

GED Classes
New students are now being accepted
for GED classes. Classes are Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.
to noon and Wednesdays and Thursdays
from 6-9 p.m. Classes are free and are
held at 1200 Henderson in the old PPI

Veterans Readjustment
Counseling Services
The Veterans Readjustment Counseling
Services are the community-based profes-
sionals within the VA who welcome home
the war veteran by providing top-quality
compassionate readjustment assistance
to the veteran and their family in order to
facilitate a successful return to civilian life
within their community. They offer indi-
vidual, group, marital and family coun-
seling to Combat Veterans of all wars and
their families. Counseling is also available
to any Veteran who experienced any form
of sexual harassment or sexual assault
while serving in the military. In addition,
bereavement counseling is afforded to the
families who have lost their service mem-
ber while on Active Duty. A Vet Center
Counselor will be available in Sweetwater
on Thursdays beginning in December to
better serve the surrounding community.
The Taylor County Vet Center looks for-
ward to serving Veterans and their fami-
lies in this community. For more informa-
tion contact VCSO Robert R. McBride at
325-235-2214.
Sweetwater Good fellows
Sweetwater Goodfellows work hard
every year to provide toys and food for
people in Nolan County that need assis-
tance during the Christmas Season. For
those who would like to help, dona-
tion boxes for toys and food are located
at KXOX, First Financial Bank, Nolan
County Courthouse, Higginbotham (Radio
Shack), Sweetwater TA Travel Center,
Sweetwater Reporter, Oak Street Salon,
SLI Embroidery and Gifts, Texas State
Technical College, County-City Library
and all Sweetwater schools. Those who
would like to make a monetary donation
may send it to Sweetwater Goodfellows
P.O. Box 1148 Sweetwater, Texas 79556.
Coats For Kids
Donations of gently worn coats for chil-
dren can be dropped off at Bahlman
Cleaners, located at 910 E. Third Street in
Sweetwater.
Parks Being Winterized
As of Nov. 24, 2010, The City of
Sweetwater Public Works Department
will be winterizing all Parks, Sweetwater
Cemetery and Lake Sweetwater camp-
ground restrooms by turning off the water
to these facilities for the remainder of the
cold season. For information concerning
the use of park facilities, please contact
the Sweetwater City Service Center at
325-235-1297 or 325-235-5003.
Food For Fines
The County-City Library will be col-
lecting food for fines during the month of
December. $1 of fines will be forgiven for
every non-perishable food item brought
to the library. The food collected will ben-
efit Goodfellows.
Men's Downtown Bible Class
Every Sunday, at 9 a.m., the Men's
Downtown Bible Class will meet at the
Masonic Lodge. An invitation is extended
to all men to come and enjoy coffee,
donuts and worship before church. The
Masonic Lodge is located on the corner of
Oak and 4th.
Woman's Forum
The Sweetwater Woman's Forum meets
every last Tuesday of the month at Bee's
Decor.
Mustang Blankets, Totes
Mustang Moms are selling Mustang
blankets and Mustang shoulder tote bags.
Blankets are 20 and the tote bags are 6
and are a perfect size for gym clothes. Be
looking for them at the Mustang games or
contact Benita Crain at 236-5119, Kristie
Fox at 235-2087, or any Mustang Mom
will be able to help you.
Self Defense Clinic
Team Chip Tae Kwon Do will offer a
free women's self defense clinic, to be
held the second Tuesday of every month.
The clinic is open to ladies ages 12 and
up. It will be at Team Chip in Sweetwater,
located at 1500 Cypress in Sweetwater at
7:30 p.m.
