Friday, Aug. 6
Season Ticket Renewal
Reserved season football tickets for
the 2010 season are up for renewal
to current option holders beginning
Monday, July 19, through Friday, Aug.
6. Tickets may be purchased at the
Sweetwater Independent School District
administration office. Summer hours
are Monday through Thursday from 8
a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m.
to noon. Tickets are $30 for five home
games. Ticket sales for the general pub-
lic will go on sale Monday, Aug. 9. The
last day to purchase season tickets will
be Friday, Aug. 20. Tickets will be sold
during regular business hours. For more
information, contact the SISD adminis-
tration office at 235-8601 ext. 116.
Mustang Booster Club Meeting
The Mustang Booster Club will have
it's kick-off meeting at noon on Friday,
Aug. 6, at Buck's. All those interested are
welcome to attend. For more informa-
tion, contact Gary Jones at 725-3358.
Saturday, Aug. 7
Jaycees Dance
The Sweetwater Jaycees and Lowdown
Entertainment are teaming up once
again. On Saturday, Aug. 7, from 8 p.m.
until 1 a.m., with doors opening at 7
p.m. there will be a dance at the Jaycees
barn. The dance is for those 18 and over.
Tickets are $8 per person. It is BYOB
but there will be no beer bottles allowed.
Security will be on hand. DJ Lowdown
will playTejano, country, Texas country,
hip nop, R&B, Duranguense, Norteno
and much more of the latest hits. For
more information call 242-4714 or 514-

Nolan Baptist Church
Nolan Baptist Church will celebrate
its 120th anniversary beginning with a
prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday,
Aug. 7, and will end with a luncheon
immediately following the Sunday ser-
vice on Aug. 8, with many surprises in
between. For those needing hotel accom-
modations, special arrangements have
been made with Holiday Inn Express
and Suites and Ranch House.
Sunday, Aug. 8
West Texas Heat Fundraiser
Softball team West Texas Heat will
have a fundraiser from 10:30-2 p.m. on
Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at Skeet's on I-20.
They will be selling chicken taco lunch
plates for $6 each. Plates will include
three chicken tacos, rice, beans, dessert
and a drink with chips and salsa or salad
on the side. Carry outs will be available.
Monday, Aug. 9
Pre-K Registration
J.P. Cowen will be having Pre-K regis-
tration, for 2010-2011 school year from
8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, August
9, Tuesday, Aug. 10, and Wednesday,
Aug. 11. To register, the child must
be four years old by Sept. 1 and par-
ents will need to bring birth certificate,
social security card, shot record, proof
of income (last two recent check stubs),
proof of residence and food stamp case
number if applicable.
Football Equipment Handout
Football equipment will be handed out
on Monday, Aug. 9, from 4-6 p.m. at the
Sweetwater Middle School new gym.
Prayer Walk
Sweetwater Aglow will host the annual
Back-to-School Prayer Walk on Tuesday,
Aug. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Lighthouse
Assembly of God Church, 412 Newman
Street. There will be a short time of
praise and worship led by Brenda Sharp
and speaker will be James Smith, Youth
Minister from Lighthouse Assembly of
God. Participants will then break up
into groups and go out and cover the
area schools with prayer. Refreshments
will be served in the fellowship hall after
the prayer walk. Everyone is invited
to come and support local schools and
children.
American Legion
Sweetwater American Legion Post
#109 and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. on
Monday, Aug. 9, at the Jaycees Building,
located at 1001 Crane Street. All members
and veterans interested in becoming mem-
bers are encouraged to attend. For more
information, call 766-3464.
Mustang Moms
Mustang Moms will be meeting at 5:45
p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, at the Sweetwater
High School fieldhouse coaches office.
Tuesday, Aug. 10
Roscoe Cheer Camp
The Roscoe Varsity Cheerleaders will
be having a cheer clinic for girls ages
two through sixth grade on Tuesday,
Aug. 10 through Thursday, Aug. 12, from
6-7:30 p.m. each day in the cafetorium.
Registration will begin on Tuesday, Aug.
10 at 5:45 p.m. They will perform at
Plowboy Preview and at first quarter of a
home football game. Plowboy Preview will
be on Friday, Aug. 13, a 7:30 p.m.
Colt Camp
Colt Camp for incoming sixth graders will
be held Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Sweetwater
Intermediate School (Due to construction
at SMS). Students will be involved in activ-
ities from 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and will
receive their class schedule.
Wednesday, Aug. 11
New SMS Students
Sweetwater Middle School will regis-
ter new sixth, seventh and eighth grade
students to the district on Wednesday,
Thursday, and Friday, Aug. 11-13, from 9
a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sweetwater Intermediate
School. (This is due to current construc-
tion at SMS). Parents are asked to bring
current immunization record, social secu-
rity card, birth certificate, previous TAKS
testing results and report card, along with
proof of residency.
Thursday, Aug. 12
Match Making and Contracting
Opportunity Forum
The United States Small Business
Administration (SBA) Lubbock District
Office invites the public to partici-
pate in the Abilene Match Making and
Contracting Opportunities Forum. The
forum will include information regarding
Surety Bond, HUBZone, 8(a), and TXDot.
Find out how you can tap the govern-
ment market to improve your small busi-
ness' profit margin. The forum will be at
Elegante Suites in Abilene, located at 4250
Ridgemont Drive on Thursday, Aug. 12,
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge
for the forum.
Kathie Glass in Abilene
Kathie Glass, Libertarian Party candi-
date for Texas Governor will be speaking
at the Abilene Tea Party Coalition meeting
at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, at Sears
Park.

Plowboy Preview
Plowboy Preview will be on Friday, Aug.
13, a 7:30 p.m. There will be the introduc-
tion of the football players the coaches,
cheerleaders, cross country team and the
big purple marching band. Also, there
will be a hamburger fundraiser prior to
Plowboy Preview beginning at 6:30 p.m. at
the football field behind the bleachers.
Saturday, Aug. 14
Benefit for Kelly and Rachel
Halstead
There will be a benefit meal and dance
for Kelly and Rachel Halstead Saturday,
Aug. 14, 2010, at the Jaycees barn, locat-
ed at the corner of Fourth and Cypress
Streets. The Halstead's home was recently
heavily damaged in a fire. Brisket sand-
wiches, chips and a drink will be sold to
eat in or take out from 5-7 p.m., at $6 per
plate. They will be accepting household
and monetary donations during this time.
The dance will be from 8 p.m. to midnight
at a cost of $6 per person/ $10 per couple.
There will also be a few items auctioned off
during the dance.
