for cancer patients
Cancer Services Network will present an educational
program entitled, Breaking Down Beauty Barriers for
Cancer Patients, at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, 2009,
at the Arrangement located at 357 Walnut in Abilene.
This project is a collaborative effort between Cancer
Services Network (CSN), Absolute Perfection Day Spa
and Jennifer Dawn Salon.
Angela Childress, licensed clinical aesthetician and
owner of Absolute Perfection Day Spa and her sister,
Jennifer Dawn, owner of Jennifer Dawn Salon will
present a participatory educational session for women
undergoing cancer treatment by teaching techniques to
help them cope with appearance related consequenc-
es of cancer treatment. Each participant will receive
instruction on skin, nutrition, massage, mani/pedi and

Gas prices contin le to fall
Drivers in Texas are seeing significant relief at the
gasoline pump as prices dropped again from January
27th-through-February 4th and it's the third week in a
row a gallon of gas cost less according to the AAA Texas
Weekend Gas Watch report.
In Texas the average price for a gallon of unleaded
regular is $2.51, a drop of five cents. Nationally prices
fell three cents to $2.61 a gallon.
Motorists in Fort Worth are paying the least for a
gallon of gas at $2.45, six cents below the statewide
average. Dallas was close behind at $2.47. The most
expensive gallon of gas is in El Paso at $2.61. The gas
price in Sweetwater is currently $2.59.
What's driving the market?
• Oil prices are stabilizing. On Jan. 7 the price of oil
jumped to more than $83 a barrel. Oil today is trading
in the $75 per barrel range on the New York Mercantile

the Texas Forest Service
to purchase a brush truck.
The department had an
unreliable 1969 Jeep that
was used to fight brush
fires. The new truck allows
for faster response times
and better coverage of
Nolan County.

Area lakes
receive rain

Nolan County has
received much needed
rain in the past few days
and precipitation in pre-
dicted in the area for the
next couple of weeks.
Since 2010 began, Oak
Creek has received 4.71
inches of rain, with 1.90
inches in the past month,
bringing it to 7'io" below
the spillway.
Lake Trammell has
received the smallest
amount of rain for the year
at 1.55 inches with 0.40
inches this past month,
bringing the lake to i3'o"
below the spillway.
Lake Sweetwater has
received 3.40 inches of
rain in 2010 with 1.15
inches in the past month,
bringing it to 6'11" below
the spillway.
There have been 3.35
inches of rain reported at
the filter plant for the year
with 1.40 of those inch-
es received in February.
Booster B has received 3.63
inches of rain with 1.52
of those inches within the
past month. The wastewa-
ter plant has received 3.05
inches of rain with 0.94
inches of rain in the past
month. Well field P.S. has
received the most rain at
4.65 inches with one 1.00
inch in February. CR 151
has received 3.95 inches
of rain in 2010, with 1.30
inches in February.
Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 is Wear Red Day. While many are aware of pink being the
color of breast cancer awareness programs, many do not know that red is the color
of heart disease awareness, among women, by going red for women. Shown are
