Nolan County encouraged to be counted
The U. S. Census will be taken in April 2010. Everyone needs to be aware of the importance of an accurate,
timely count. The Census form will be much simpler than those in past years. There will only be ten ques-
tions, taking approximately ten minutes to complete. Everyone is encouraged to take a few minutes to fill
out the form and return it by mail, immediately upon receiving it. The data from the Census will be used
to determine congressional boundaries, allocate grants and define population trends, along with other uses.
For more information, see www.2010census.gov. Pictured is the Census Committee that includes represen-
tatives of different entities within Nolan County. Shown are Gus Calderon, Partnership Specialist from the
U.S. Census Bureau; Grant Madden, Sweetwater Emergency Services Director; Jacob Tiemann, Roscoe
ISD; Patty Torres, City of Sweetwater; Jacque McCoy, Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice
President; Kathy Smartt, Sweetwater ISD Assistant Superintendent; Ben High, Nolan County Central
Appraisal District, High Agency; Tim Fambrough, Nolan County Judge; and Ken Becker, Executive
Director for Sweetwater Enterprise for Economic Development (SEED).
