Activities at the Edward Abraham
Memorial Home began the week with
Communion Services hosted by members
of the Christian Church, then followed
by gospel singing led by Jim Hash of the
First Baptist Church. Rolanda Coffee
played the piano. Both of these activities
are open to anyone who wants to attend.
Sometimes visitors to the Home will join
in as they hear songs being sung. This
week Bud Dickinson was one of those visi-
tors.
Matt Cook brought the afternoon wor-
ship services with Wayne Baker leading
the singing and Mary Lynne Schafer at
the piaro.
On Monday, volunteers Pat Hutson,
Linda Folley and
open bags as they tr ick-or-treat for candy.
Thank you to those of the community who
donated candy to be given out for this pur-
pose.
Volunteers in the beauty shop on
Thursday helping with hair fixings were
Bobbie Jo Ramp, Jamie Killebrew, Doris
Smith and Carol Brock. David Young of
the Assembly of God Church brought the
devotional.
Rose played the piano in the Activity
Room again and Wayne tookthe residents
on another Joy Ride.
Charlie Rankin came in the afternoon
to entertain with his guitar picking and
singing

shop while exercise
classes were being
held in the Activity
Room Rose Rahal
played the piano.
Jeannie Pfannen-
steil also played the piano later on.
Rhythm Band was enjoyed by resi-
dents on Tuesday morning. Mary Lynne
Schafer played the piano: while Ronnie
Webb and Shirley Baker led in the sing-
ing. The residents gave their own back-
ground rhythm with the various instru-
ments provided for that purpose.
Residents' minds were challenged
with a lively game of "Name That Tune"
as Arlene Walker played songs for them to
identify. Wayne Baker then took them on
a Joy Ride around town. Those going on
the ride were Sue Anderson, Ruth Hold-
away, Bertha Lee Irons, Cleo Isaacs, Em-
ily Meier, Ila Pettit, Sue Reams, Bubba
Webb, Gracie Wright, and Howard and
Kate Yarnold.
A Halloween party was held on
Wednesday with refreshments of cookies
and punch. Then the residents anticipated
the comings of the "real" trick-or-treat-
ers to arrive at dusk. They always enjoy
seeing the children in their costumes and

in "Craft Time"
for one and half hours before they broke
up to go to a game table for Bingo. Those
playing Bingo were Phyllis Laramore,
Emily Meier, Cleo Isaacs, Arleta Jones,
Ilene Johnson, Florese Wells, Sue Reams
and Ruth Hold,way. Phyllis was the big
winner of the day with three wins to her
credit.
Visitors signing the Guest Register
this week were Jerry and Dorothy Guim
of Pampa, Bob and Beverly Dickinson,
Rita Holland of Miami, Missie Billings,
Charles Kessie, Kevin Wells of New Mex-
ico and George and C. A. Wilson.
Upcoming birthdays for the month
of November will be Anna Julian on the
16th, Florene Daughtry on the 18th, J.
Bob Pickens on the 20th and Edna Love
on the 21st.

roll, fruit jello, snickerdoodle.

mashed potatoes, zucchini/squash,
tossed salad, dinner roll, spice cake.
•Friday: Ham/cheese sandwich,
potato soup, pickled okra/baby corn,
lettuce/tomato, apple crisp.

COMMUNITY DHIEFS
Library collecting warm clnthing donations
Just as the weather outside begins to
change, the second full weekend of Novem-
ber is set aside to clean out those closets and
take your warm, wearable coats, jackets,
scarves , hats and mittens that you no longer
use and donate them to a homeless shelter or
agency for distribution. The staff at Hemp-
hill County Library will have a collection box
available until Saturday, November 10, for
donations and the focus during Story Time
today, Nov. 8, and tomorrow, Nov. 9, will be
the Great American Warm-Up. If you have
items that you would like to donate, bring
them to the library and they will be added
to the collection. Call the library at 323-5282

JAMES OLIVER 'JIM' HODGES
A memorial service for James Oliver "Jim" Hodges of
Richmond, Virginia, will be held Saturday, November 10,
2007 at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Amarillo at
13th and Tyler.
Jim Hodges died Monday, September 10, at the age of
78. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Merydith Hodges;
his daughter, Jan Hodges and her husband, Art Ryan; two
step-grandsons, Charles and James Ryan; four brothers
and a sister and their spouses, Bill and Theresia Hodges
of Canadian, Don and Freddie Hodges of Dallas, Robert
and Janice Hodges of Amarillo, Gary and Deborah Hodg-
es of Amarillo, and Mary and Robert (Shorty) McCaffree
of Amarillo; and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces,
great^nephews, in-laws and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contri-
butions be made to a favorite school scholarship fund.
PERRY NICHOLS
Perry Nichols, 80, of Amarillo died Wednesday, October 31,2007 in Fort Worth. Services
were held Monday, November 5, at 10 a.m., at Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Burial was
in Memorial Park Mausoleum Arrangements were by Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rocky Blake Nichols; and a brother, Jack Nichols.
Survivors include two sons, Steav Nichols of Fort Worth and Gi'aig Nichols and wife, Mel-
issa, ofWylie, Texas; a daughter, Dara Nichols ofBenbrook, Texas; four grandchildren, Jimmy
Don Nichols, Ricky Lee Nichols, Meagan Quinn Nichols,-and Kaden Blake Nichols; four sis-
ters, Dorothy Brown of Texas, Lola Allen of Colorado, Bonnie Keller and husband, Lester, of
Washington, and Pauline Hinkle and husband, Brad, of Kansas; and a brother, Wayne Nichols
and wife, Maretta, of Texas.
