Cowboy Poetry Breakfast this Saturday
The November Cowboy Poetry Breakfast
will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Novem-
ber 10, at Amarillo's Big Texan restaurant
on 1-40. Headliners will be Genny Peters
of Amarillo and Don DeHay of Canyon.
Charolyn Gouldy of Vega will be MC. Open
mike follows, when cowboy/girl poets, sing-
ers, musicians and tall-tale-teller members
of the Southwest Cowboy Poets Associa-
tion perform. Any performers in the audi-
ence or those wishing to participate can
call President Ivan Cates at (806)353-5617.
These monthly breakfasts are, as far as we
know, the only monthly events of this kind in
the entire Country. The poems and music of
cowboy country and culture, traditions and
heritage, bring back memories of the settling
of the southwest, dusty days of cattle drives,
and experiences the cowboys shared. Anyone
interested in the heritage of the southwest is
welcome to come enjoy these family-oriented
programs presented by those who wish to
keep the cowboy spirit alive. #44
