How blessed we have been with our lovely fall weather. Unlike some
years I remember,; when wo had cold even in September and football
games under miserable conditions., this year has been a delight.,Even the
trees benefitted, not changing colors as e#"ly as sometimes and keeping
their given through October.
Those who have squirrels in their neighborhoods have seen them scam-
pering about, busily storing up their goodies for the inevitable cold and
snow But late flowers are still blooming and may continue for a time. If
snow comes some of them may yet peekabove it.
I can remember times when our children received sleds for .Christmas
and had little opportunity to use them until sometime later in the winter,
0n the other hand, of course, ;t Christmas bicycle could be just as use-
less if winter came in with a blast at the wrong time. More than one deter*
mined child has ridden a new bike on an icy street and had a fall.
It is probably just ;is well that w have no control over the weather. Our
choices would all be different and there would be eternal conflict.

Does everyone receive a plethora of boxed Christmagcards this time of the year from wor-
thy organizations hoping to be paid for them in order to help their particular good cause?
Many of us choose to pick out our own Christmas cards. Others design theirs or have family
photos printed on them so their friends and relatives in far;places may know how the family is
growing and changing..
What to do with the unused cards? You may pay the postage and return them to the sender.
You may ask to be removed from their mailing list Or the cards would be welcomed at the
Memorial Home or some other residential facility for the use of those who may not be able to
get out and purchase some for themselves. (Ifyou included some postage stamps itwould be an
additional and welcomed gift.) And what about thesChristmas cards you receive? Line them on
the mantle, hang them from the tree, enjoy!
