DFF AND RUNNING: The 7th-grade Lady Cats opened their season Monday night versus Dar-
muzett. The Cats defeated the Lady Longhorns 44-11 at the Canadian High School Gym. Nicole
Guthrie (above) scores two of her team-leading 18 points. Shaleigh Price scored 11 and was
followed by Katie Pelham (5points), Brittany Bivyde (2points), DaniAyala (2points), Abby Cer-
vantes (2 points), Shelby Albin (2 points) and Shellvy Bond (2 points). "The girls played well on
both sides of the ball to come away with their first win of the season," said coach Jimmy Chappell
The CMS Lady Cats will host Spearman on Monday, November 12. The 7th-grade game will
start at 5p.m.

A memorial run benefitting the scholarship fund established in memory of Miles
Parker Henderson will start at the Canadian High School on Saturday, November 17
at 9 a.m. Henderson was a Canadian High School graduate and a local hero who was
killed on November 6, 2006 while on duty in Balad, Iraq. Miles was serving with the
1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion of the 82nd Airborne Division out of F ort Bragg,
North Carolina, when the AH-64 Apache helicopter he was piloting crashed. Both
Henderson and Chief Warrant Officer John R. Priestner were killed in the crash.
The annual scholarship provides funds for a Canadian High School senior to at-
tend a trade/vocational school. Donations are being requested to underwrite the ex-
pense of t-shirts and other giveaways.
Brad and Terry Henderson will host lunch for everyone involved in the run. Run-
ners, walkers, helpers, photographers and reporters are invited to the First Chris-
tiairC'hurch after the race for the free lunch.
The t-shirts will include the names of the business or individuals who made a do-
nation.
People interested in helping should send tax-deductible donations to Miles Parker
