great-grandfather; maternal
great-grandparents are Ron-
ald and Marian Beck of
Marion, Kansas and Cecil
"Shorty" Hendrix of Prue,
Oklahoma. Aunts and an un-
cle are Tiffany, Tawny and
Tory Hendrix of Towanda,
Kansas.
In Hemphill County Hospital
on Wednesday: Wilson Crawford.
Dismissed during the week: Troy
Stubblefield (Oct. 1), Mary Ann
Wright, Helen Robertson of
Lipscomb transferred to BSA in
Amarillo (Oct. 2), Lois Smith (Oct.
6), Michael Sirmans (Oct. 7).
During the past week there
have been 26 Physical Therapy
visits and 68 procedures, 2 Car-
diac Rehab visits, 10 Home
Health visits, 76 Out-Patient pro-
cedures, 23 Emergency Room pa-
tients and 15 Ambulance runs,
Canadian received .27" of
rain on October 4.
The low overnight temperature
for the week was 40 degrees on Oc-
tober 5 and the high overnight was
55 degrees on October 7. The high
daytime temperature was 78 de-
grees on October 3 and the low was
57 degrees on October 1.

Miami hosts Youth Art Festival
Miami is having its 2nd High
Plains Youth Art Festival on Sat-
urday, October 18th. $1,000 in
cash prizes will be awarded to
contestants in the following age
categories: 0-5, 6-10, 11-14,
15-18. Entrants are allowed two
pieces of visual art—paintings,
photographs, sculptures, com-
puter graphics, or other visual
items. Entry fee is $5, judging
begins at 11:00. Awards an-
nounced at 4:00. Festival will be
held at the community center in
downtown Miami, just south of
US 60 on Main Street. There
will also be a pumpkin carving
contest. Pumpkins and carving
kits will be available at the festi-
