Water Board Directors
Okay Financial Report
8
Tuesday's regular monthly
meeting of the Starr County Water
District Board of Directors was
highlighted by the approval of the
financial report.
Accountant Paul Dunning
indicated that net operating revenue
lor May was approximately $9000
less than for May 1989.
lotal operating revenues equaled
S 106,232 for the month and
S463.940 for the year to date. Total
revenues amounted to Si 12,659 lor
the month and $492,835 lor the
first live months of 1990.
The total ol $88,682 in expenses
for the month was broken down as
follows: Administrative Expenses,
S31,373; Plant Operation, 534,270;
Plant Maintenance, $23,039.
Expenses for the lirst five months
of 1990 totaled $486,419.
Net operating revenues amounted
to $23,977 for the month and

1990. The cash balance amounted
to $2159 as of May 31.
The board members proceeded to
approve the re|x;ri as presented.
Dunning, noting that operating
revenues arc somewhat less than
last year, suggested a rate increase
as a possible option. Manager
Efrain Duran said, We hail two
public hearings. The state wanted
us to raise rates immediately. Water
has been paying for everything.'
Duran indicated that the bulk ol any
increase would be lor sewage. ,
The two public hearings in 1('8X
that Duran referred to concerned an
application the Water District
for a low interest loan to cxpaiul
sewage capacity and service within
the district
Duran added, I'd like I > dclay(
this (any possible rate increase)
until cooler weather."
