Holds Fall Rushing
Alpha Chi Epsilon Chapter of
Beta Sigma Phi recently presented
"The Wizard of Oz" program to
help brief rushers (new prospective
members) about the sorority.
Each character explained how
the sorority started during the
depression in 1931. The founder of
the sorority was noted, as was the
meaning and functions of the club,
and how the club is a worldwide
organization The activities,
socials, and services the club offers
were explained.
The characters in the play were:
Aida Garza, Dorothy. Lion, Angie
Teran; Scarecrow, Nena Garza;
and Tin Man, Gracie Sandifer. All
characters dressed for their parts.
Guests were introduced by
vice-president Aida Garza. The
guests were Debra Villarreal,
Diana Gomez, Melba Garcia,

President Cindy Gonzalez called
the meeting to order, with all
members repeating the opening
ritual. The secretary, Carmen
Pena, called roll and read the last
meeting's minutes. The minutes
were approved.
Vice-President Aida Garza gave
a report on the requirements, such
as membership status, degrees
pledge training, and dues required
Treasurer Thelma Ramey re-
ported on the up to date balance
and disbursements. The cor-
respondence secretary, Angie
Teran, read the internationals
correspondence
Social committee chairman Irma
Ramos discussed the Valentine's
Day Dance that was held Feb. 7
She suggested ideas for the de
corations that were to be used for
the designated dance hall
She also introduced this year's
sweetheart, Cindy Gonzalez The
sunshine chairman, Nena Garza,
announced that flowers had been
sent to Norma Carrera, during her
stay in the hospital
Gracie Sandefer set up a year's
scrapbook for guests to view as to
what events, socials, and services
the chapter is involved in The
meeting was adjourned with
members repeating the opening
ritual and mitzpah.
Hostess Aida Garza served a
dinner of buffalo wings, macaroni
salad, cream corn, and cake.
