Fair Association President Rob-
erto S. Margo said, "Presently, the
economy is at a low ebb at the
local, state and national level.
Nevertheless, this problem should
not keep the community from
encouraging and supporting our
youth in participating in the
competitiveness of the Starr Coun-
ty Fair. The learning experiences
from partaking in the various
activities are numerous."
"The cost of the new fair
facilities was over $120,000. Pres-
ently, we owe a balance of $62,000.
Therefore, it is our goal to pay the
balance as soon as possible."

The weather was beautiful,
Joanne Milliron had a birthday,
and the park residents had a wienie
roast for her
Ellis Shuck was the chef and did
a great job with those franks. Kip
Milliron and a friend were down
visiting for a few days. These were
three good excuses to celebrate
with a good old-fashioned wienie
roast.
The good cooks, as always,
provided macaroni salad, baked
beans, and relishes. Vela Wenning
baked a luscious birthday cake.
Everyone was enjoying good food
and good conversation when this
reporter did a Humpty Dumpty
somersault.
As she shifted her position on the
bench she was sitting, its legs gave
out and she cut her leg. "Dr. Kip"
came to the rescue and was able to
put her up together again with the
aid of band aid, antiseptic oint-
ment, and even instructions to
"stay off those feet."
It wasn't that bad though, but I

can tell you girls a secret, sh! Get
that ear closer: good way to get out
of K.P. duty.
Great excitement in the park.
The Kirks have decided their
trailer is too small, and with the
help of John Van Buren and
Charles Kazda, are building an
addition which will give more leg
room.
Every afternoon, the rest of the
Winter Texans bring their chairs
and advice. "That 2 by 4 is too
short. You ought to put another
window in. That wall is not
straight."
Well, Chuck, put some cotton in
your ears and get on with the
hammering. Every morning before
he starts to work, he climbs on top
of the trailer and with hand on
brow, he scouts around to see if he
can find some Indians out here, but
lo and behold, the only thing he can
see are chiefs.
Jim Kirk arrived on Saturday
from Dexter, Michigan to lend a
helping hand.
By the way, we understand
Rosetta and Charlie Kazda have
found some golf partners. People
do read The Herald, don't they!

Miss Jeannie Galindo and Martin
Hernandez were united in marriage

Edinburg. The Rev. Gerald
Shanley, S.S.C.C., celebrated the
double-ring nuptial mass.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs.
Eliza T. Galindo and the late
Francisco A Galindo of Roma
Parents of the bridegroom are Mrs.
Fidela G. Luna and Santos Her-
nandez, Sr.
The altar was adorned with a
pair of five-branch brass can-
delabra decorated with greenery
and mixed flowers. Two white
pillars holding massive floral ar-
rangements were placed on each
side of the altar. These were
decorated with yellow, teal, and
white flowers. Tall brass aisle
markers with hurricane lamps
were used to outline the center of
the aisle leading to the candlelit
altar.
Organist for the ceremony was
Freddy Estimbo of Edinburg.
Vocalists were Teylene Esparza
and Sonny Salinas, both of Edin-
burg.
The bride, given in marriage by
her cousin, Ruben Garza of Pharr,
chose for her wedding a designer
gown of pale candlelight imported
satin, Venise lace, and Schiffli
embroidery, in a Renaissance
silhouette. The bodice featured a
Queen Anne neckline, Renaissance
sleeves, and low-pointed Basque
wasteline, and was lavish with
pearl-studded lace appliques The
full caps of the sleeves were
formed of met, set with sunburst
designs of pearl beading, tapering
into elaborate pearl and crystal
embroideries on the lace to the
wrists.
The skirt, a dramatic sweep of
satin graced by many florid
appliques, fell to a deep scalloped
hemline and cascaded into the
regal processional train in the
back. She wore a Princess bridal
wreath of pearls, dipping to a point
at the center of a forehead, with a
large central pearl, framed in silk
flowers on the sides, and set with
Venise lace flowers at the back,
where a puff of pearl-embroidered
veiling fell away to a double-tiered
Empire length veil edged in French
hemming.
The bride's bouquet was a
cascade of imported silk roses in
candlelight and English ivy. It was
given to the bride by her aunt and
uncle, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Galindo,
Jr., of Rio Grande City.
Complimenting her attire, the
bride wore the traditional blue
garter, a pearl/diamond pendant,
and a ring given to her by the
bridegroom.
Attending the bride as maid of
honor was her sister, Miss Angie
Galindo of Roma. Bridesmaids
were Melissa Ramirez, niece of the
bridegroom, of Piano, Texas;
Graciela Saenz and Alida Lopez,
both of Edinburg; Lulu Saldana,
cousing of the bride, of Roma; and
Edna Cavazos of Donna.
They wore identical tea-length,
teal blue gowns designed with drop
waistlines accented with lace and
satin. The maid of honor's dress
was identical, but in candlelight
Their bouquets were fashioned with
silk roses, baby's breath and
greenery bound with ribbons

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudy
Molina of Edinburg.
