Seven Valley Girls To Make Debut
Before Order Of The Alhambra
Seven Valley girls will be
presented as debutantes during
the Christmas Season by
members uf the Order of the
Alhambra.
The girls are Judith J. Chapa,
Dorinda Olivia Flores, Dalinda
Lopez, Edna Larralde, Laura
Martinez, Vangie Vela, and
Anna Victoria Zarate.
The debutantes will make
their bows at the organization's
annual presentation ball,
December 28, 1974, at the
McAllen Civic Center. Before
this event they will be honored
by the Sultanas at a tea held at
the home of Sir Noble and
Sultana Lauro G. Guerra on
Saturday, December 7, 1974.
Judith J. Chapa, daughter of
Sir Noble, and Mrs. Baldemar
Chapa, is a junior at Roma High
School. She has earned several
honors and has held several
positions during her high school
years. She has been very active
in Student Council and has
served as secretary and at
present is vice-president of the
South Texas District
Association of Student Councils.
In U.I.L. competition, Judith
has participated in the One-Act
Play and debate. She has
served as vice president and is

Literary Club. In addition to
these activities, she is also a
member of the choir, pep squad
and speech squad. She was
elected Basketball Sweetheart,
served as Roma Lion's Club
Queen; was a semi-finalist in
the Miss National Teenager
pageant in San Antonio and was
in the top 20 finalists in the Miss
Starr County Beauty Pageant.
She is an honor roll student and
also finds time to be active in
the C.C.D. Program. Upon
graduation, Judith plans to
attend North Texas State
University in Denton and major
in Child Psychology.
Dorinda Olivia Flores is the
daughter of Sir Noble and Mrs.
Arturo Flores of Edinburg,
Texas and is a junior at
Edinburg High School. She is a
member of the Edinburg High
School Band and has been for
the past three years. She is
presently the Junior
representative. She is a
member of St. Joseph's
Catholic Youth Organization
and has been for three years.
She is the Treasurer of this
organization. Dorrie is a
member of the Sub-Debs, a
social and civic organization for
teenagers. She is a member of
the Candy Stripers and has been
for the past two years.
Currently, she is chairman of
the Gift Shop.
Edna Larralde is the
daughter of Sir Noble and Mrs.
Julio Larralde Jr., of Rio
Grande City. She is a Junior in
the Rio Grande City Con-
solidated Independent School
District, where she is an active
member of the Future
Homemakers of America Club.
She has been elected to the
National Honor Society. She
had previously attended the
Immaculate Conception School,
Miss Larralde's hobbies are
sewing, baking and bike riding.
She also enjoys playing tennis
with her friends.
Dalinda Lopez, 17, a junior in
Rio Grande City High School is
the daughter of Sir Noble and
Mrs. I>auro L. Lopez. Dalinda is
an active member of the Art
Department in school and her
favorite hobby is painting. Her
paintings have won several top
prizes in art exhibits. Dalinda is
also very active in ourdoor
sports especially hunting and
fishing. She plans to continue
art professionally and include
interior decorating.
Laura Martinez is the
daughter of Sir Noble and Mrs.

Roel Martinez. She is an active
member of the junior class at
McAllen High School. Laura
was a cheerleader for three
years and is presently a
member of the McHi Stappers.
Her other activities include
National Honor Society,
Keyettes, Junior Music Club
and Representative for the
Student Council. She is a
student of ballet and dancing is
her favorite hobby. Laura is a
member of Sacred Heart
Church.
Evangeline Isabel Vela,
. daughter of Sir Noble and Mrs.
Eduardo Vela of Hidalgo, is
presently ranked sixth in her
senior class at McAllen High
School. She is a member of the
National Honor Society; Mu
Alpha Theta, an honorary math
club; Pan American Student
Forum; and the Student
Council. She is serving as
treasurer of the Spanish Honor
Society. She is listed in Who's
Who Among American High
School Students and the Society
of Outstanding American High
School Students. She won first
place in the district in
University Interscholastic
League Spelling and Plain
Writing in March of this year.
She was selected to attend a
Citizea^' in Seminar sponsored
by tl Jivitan Club in
I-ongview, Texas, this past
summer. She is a member of
the Sacred Heart Church in
Hidalgo, where she is one of the
Sunday readers.
Anna Victoria Zarate is the
daughter of Sir Noble and Mrs.
Isauro G. Zarate of Rio Grande
City. She is 16 years of age.
Vicky received her elementary
education at Immaculate
Conception Parish School and is
at this time enrolled at the Rio
public school as a Junior.
In her sophomore year she
was chosen as the represen-
tative of her class to the Belle
and Beau Ball and has always
been active in money making
projects for the school. She is on
the staff of the annual year-
book, "El Cascabel".
Vick\ has little spare time as
she has been working in the
family business, so her week-
ends are always tied up. Yet she
manages to do quite a bit of
sewing for herself and for her
little nieces. She also enjoys
reading and has an extensive
library of her own. She has also
built up quite a collection of
tapes and records which she
shares with her brothers.
Vicky is still interested in a

lot of things but plans to go into
social work after completing
her education. Like all our
involved youth, she sees the
injustice in this world toda\ and
hopes to improve tomorrow by
working with our American
Indians.
These seven girls are
daughters of members of the
organization of which Sir Noble ^

is Grand Commander.
