Americans Am L6éinq Patriotism
My wife and I had some friend*
who were visiting from the State
of Vermont, and Florida. We
wanted to show them the sights of
East Texas. One of the first sights
was the Neches Bluff Lookout off
Hwy 21.
We were very disappointed be*
cause trees had grown up and oem-ft
pletely blocked the vie#.' It didn't 9,
look like anyone had camped there
in quite a while, maybe because
the view was all btockyd. If# a

see any of the distant part of the
state, because trees blocked the
view. It's a crying shame that we

Mayor of Alto Commended
The two councilman from Alto as
well as their family members have
made many statements. Ninety-
nine percent of these statements
are false or second hand informa-
tion. I find this type of slanderous
statements to be appalling.
The council members are talk-
ing about information that truly
should be kept confidential or, out
of respect for others, at least wait
until this "so caUed investigation"
is over. (Quoting them) v< . ■"
As for no coverageatthe schools,
I've picked up Various friends' chil-
dren and have seen officers each
time. Our officers are very con-
cerned about our youth, continu-
ously working on things such as
drug awareness and keeping con-
trol o$er them bringing weapons
onto the school grounds. Weapons
such as knives and-hand guns.
That is commitment to our com-
munity, all of our Community!
Before these men and their fam-
ily members fly Off the handle,
maybe they need to look in their
' own back yards. Tike care of their
own backgrounds, Take care of
yours and quit caústo® trouble tat
others. Neafcfer council member
has any right to judge anyone else.
In my opinion, botfo haVe unsavory
backgrounds at best. One has al-
ready been removed frbm the of*
i fice of Mayor and the other , alleg- _
edly, has been forced out of other
communities plus othefkctivities
"that could be labeled as "hate
crimes" under the net/laws. They
have a lot of roaa tb talk, don't
they? This is not false informa-
tion, nor secondhand gossip. These
are facts that every Alto resident
knows about. Ask arty Alto resi-
ij dent and theyirifttafhappy to give
v you an earful.
Sandra Wallace íb the Mayor and
has the final say about what hap-
pens in Alto. Her decisions have
been difficult at times but she has
done her best. No one is perfect,
but khe gives her beBt for Alto.
Lastly, I want to say if anyone
thinka Alto is so filthy and needs
some Üplift, get up off of your couch
and get out there and get the com-
munity together and do some
cleanup. Trash pick up, sidewalk
clean up and maybe going that
extra effort by helping an elderly
person with their yard. All of this
would help Ako look better and
maybe bring our community to-
gether instead of tearing it apart.
'Try something positive, say some-
thing positive" and perhaps people
may want to help out.

responded to our request for help.
While we asked for manpower only,
both sent not only manpower but
engines as well. It is a major
commitment for a city to send
forces to another town as it de-
port
pletes their ability to perform for
their people. Yet everyone whom
we called responded. We also had
unsolicited manpower response
from surrounding departments.
How do I find words to express
. the departments' thanks to all of
you for youf supporf before, dur-
ing and after? I want to be elo-
„ quent and flowing in response to
your show of support for us, but in
the end I find that the simplest

much more than I could write in
volumes of books and that is,
"Thank you very much."
