Will Stanley is carrying his
nose in a sling as a result of trip-
ping and falling on an old tin can.
Some of the boys accuse him of
trying to commit suicide because
he was defeated for public
weigher.
Misses Maye Congalton and
Mattie Johnson were pleasant
callers at the Star office Tuesday
evening.
J. H. Boulter has our thanks
for a nice melon—the first act of
charity that has thus far come
our Kvay.
T..T. Ginn and lady were in
from Mattie Sunday to visit rela-
tives and see how the 'lection
went.
Two Upton brothers of Coryell
county are visiting with W. H.
Reese and family of Oriana com-
munity.
With but very few exceptions
the Republicans of Stonewall
county went Democratic last
Saturday.
Sheriff McComb was down
from Clairemont last week trans-
acting some business pertaining
to his office.
Herbert Lang and lad}' were
in from the Salt Flat ranch Mon-
day and spent the night with
friends.
Miss Travis Sedberry came in
from the ranch Saturday and
left Tuesday for her home at
Clifton, Texas.
Misses Charlotte and Grace
Long of Gainesville, sisters of our
townsman, T. M. Long, are out
on a yisit to the latter and will
spend several weeks here. We
trust their stay will be one of
pleasure.
Mrs. Bettie Kennemer of Mills
county visited with her father,
S. M. Gardner of our county,
last and this week.
J. W. Thompson received an
invitation to attend district court
at Anson and left Wednesday
morning for that place.
Don't forget the school propo-
sition to be voted on August 4th.
This is a matter in which all
should be interested.
Jas. and Ras Bilberry and
Richard Henderson and families
of Oriana community left last
Thursday for Mason county to
visit relatives.
We regret to note that Uncle
John Kidd of Center View is
considerably under the weather
and trust he will soon regain his
usual good health.
The election exercises were
opened in front of N. G. Rollins'
store Saturday morning by a
little pugilistic combat between
two of our prominent citizens.
Robert Scott has been visiting
Aspermont a little too frequent
of late, and on last Sunday we
learned the cause. There is an
attraction here that is irresista-
ble—but we can't blame Robert.
Will Cabler zfnd family, Miss
Jewel Womack and Leslie Horn-
buckle, of Meridian, were in the
city Wednesday. Mr. Cabler
was looking after his interests in
some valuable Stonewall county
land.
