INCREASING MEMBERSHIP OF BOARD OF NURSE
EXAMINERS.
S. B. No. 126.] CHAPTER 28.
An Act to amend Chapter 115, Section 1 of the Acts of 1929, 41st Legislature
so as to increase the number of members on the Board of Nurse
Examiners from five to six; and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. That Chapter 115, Section 1 of the Acts of 1929,
41st Legislature providing for the appointment of a Board of
Nurse Examiners be amended so that Section 1 of said Act shall
hereafter read as follows:
"Section 1. The Governor shall biennally appoint a Board of
Nurse Examiners to consist of six members, and the term of
office of those so appointed shall be two for six years; two for
four years; and two for two years. Each member of said Board

Nursing connected with a general hospital or sanitarium of good
standing presided over by a graduate nurse, where a two or
more years' training with a systematic course of instruction
is given,, and shall have at least three years' teaching experience
in educational work among nurses. The members of the Board
and the Educational Secretary shall each make and subscribe
to the official oath, and the same shall, within thirty days after
their appointment, be filed with the Secretary of State."
SEC. 2. That all laws in conflict with such amendment be,
and the same are hereby repealed.
SEC. 3. The fact that the present Law is unconstitutional in
that under said old law less than two-thirds of the Board of
Nurse Examiners is appointed each two years creates an emergency
and an imperative public necessity requiring that the Constitutional
Rule requiring bills to be read on three several days
in each House be suspended, and the same is hereby suspended,
and that this Act shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage, and it is so enacted.
Approved March 17, 1931.
