The annual meeting of the Needle-
work Guild of America will be held
in Boston Mass.. May 6 and 7. The
Swiss room of the Copley-Plaza Ho-
tel will be used for the meeting. An
interesting program has been arrang-
ed including addresses by nationally
known speakers on subjects relative
to the guild work.
The meeting will conclude with a
reception at the home of Mrs. Ben-
jamin F. Pitman in Brookline. Mrs.
Edward Leighton president of the
San Antonio branch requests any
member of the local guild contemplat-
ing a triy East at that time to co-
fer with her in regard to representing
San Antonio at the meeting.

Presbyterian church will be. hostesses
at a reception from 4 to 6 o’clock
Monday afternoon in the home of Sirs.

Pioneer Association
Prepares for Ball
The annual ball of the Pioqecr As-
sociation will be the initial event of
Fiesta Week and interest is being
uroused *n the plans rapidly being
perfected by the committees in charge.
Of special interest is the plan to
hold tbc ball in the Municipal audi-
torium and it is hoped that the build-
ing will be completed in time. If this
is impossible the ball will be held
in the ballroom of one of the city
hotels as has been the custom.
Mrs. Renn Maverick Green has been
appointed chairman of the ball com-
mittee. Mrs. Green represents two
of the oldest nnd most prominent fam-
ilies of the city nnd is a figure in
the social nnd civic activities of San
Antonio. Serving with Mrs. Green
upon this committee nre Frank Ren-
nert Mrs. George C. Wurzbach.

forms of dancing.
The program for the annual meet-

meeting Friday of the Alamo Heights

The members of the Woodlawn Lake
Civic Club met in the homo of the
president . Mrs. Lucy V. Gouger
Thursday aud condensed reports were
made of the work accomplished dur-
ing the winter. Special mention was
made of the work done on the athletic
field by Ray Lambert and. Phil
Wright's departments.
Mrs. Sidney Freeborn requested that
purchases made by the club be given
into the charge of Mrs. W. H. Suden
who has charge of the athletic equip-
ment.
It was reported that an interest is
being taken by the young people of
the surrounding neighborhoods in pro-
viding and quipping the athletic field.
Short talks were made by Mrs. Emil
Grecvcu and Miss Mollie Nelson su-
perintendent of Ruiz school.
During the social hour Mrs. Gouger
served tea.
