Following the ceremony an inform-

of the bride's parents for the bndal

tivet- of the family. Later in the
evening. Mr. and Mrs.
left for Galveston from which place
t^v will go to New Orleans thence
bi boat to Philadelphia. Washington
New York. Niagara halls aud other
points of interest in the east. After
two months they will return to Texas
to make their home in Houston.
Mr. Brinkmann the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Brinkmann of Comfort.
Texas attended A. & M. College
and received his degree in Ann Ar-
bor. He is new engaged in marine
architectural work in Houston.
Among the out-of-town guests at
the wedding were Mr. and Mrs.
Brinkmann of Comfort Mr. uuu Mr.
Alex Brinkmann Jr. of New Braun-
fels. Mrs. Walter Brinkmann of

rooms of Mrs. D. Borth's home Fri-
day when the Bemerry 300 club was
entertain'd. After the games prizes

membered by their many friends in
San Antonio returned to their home
in Harlingen after a week's visit to
the city. During their stay in the

Madame Amelita Galli-Curci the
famous Metropolitan lyric soprano
will be presented in a twilight concert
at 5 o’clock Wednesday afternoon
April 14 in the Majestic Theater
under the direction of Mrs. Edith
M. Resch.
The wonders of the voice of Galli-
Curci are well known to all music
lovers and she has many admirers in
San Antonio as she has appeared in
concert here before.
For the past year she has been en-
joying a triumphant concert tour in
foreign lands. All records have been
surpassed in her successes in Eng-
land Scotland Wales Ireland Ha-
waii Australia and New Zealand.

I April with its brides is becoming
a serious rival of June. During the
week two new announcements of ap-
proaching weddings have been re-
ceived.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ormond Skin-
ner. announce the engagement of their
daughter. Frances Margaret to Dr.
Ira T. Stowell the wedding to take
place Wednesday April 7. at 7 o’clock
in the evening in the St. Mark's
Episcopal Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Ofner an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter. Mary Virginia to Lawrence
Joseph Power son of Mr. and Mrs.
J. L. Power the marriage to take
place in April.
Many delightful parties have been
planned for the two brides-elect which
will be announced later.

Dr. and Mrs. S. W. Crossley had
as their guests last-week Mrs. Cross-
ley's mother. Mrs. af. Jourdin and
sister Mrs. G. W. Spencer and How-
ard and Frank Spencer of San
Marcos. They were in San Antonio

brother for the first reunion of the
family for many years.
Mr. Jourdin who is consulting en-
gineer for the Anaconda Copper Min-
ing company was en route from Perth

Discusses
Noted Women
“Famous Women of Today” were
discussed at the regular study session
of the Sorosis Club Tuesday after-
noon in the St. Anthony Hotel. Mrs.
T. B. Askew spoke most interest
ingly on the life and work of Lady
Astor. Mrs. W. 8. Hamilton spoke
on Woman's Clubs and Clubhouses
of Paris and London and Mrs. E
A. Young read an instructive paper
on the Woman’s Clubs and Club
houses of the United States.

The Woman’s Auxiliary of the Bea-
con Hill Presbyterian church will not
hold their regular meeting Monday as
usual. Members are asked to use that
time in visiting or assisting in the
