(1) Every week for twelve weeks The San Antonio Light in co-operation
with the Detroit Times Eo ton Advertiser Miiwaul.es Sentinel-Telegram
Baltimore American Atlanta Ameriee.;'. Rochester American and Syra-
cuse American will print three composite pictures of “Makers of Amer-
ican History.’’
Each set of pictures when ent up and re-assembled correctly will
make complete portraits of those subjects. Eery one is invited to
assemble the pictures and send them into the “History Makers’’ Contest
Editor of this newspaper.
These combined newspapers will pay $30000 in cash prizes to the per-
sons who send in the nearest covstly atrembled correctly captioned
and nearest complete sets of the pictures.
(2) 4000 cash prizes will be awarded according to the schedule appearing
elsewhere on this page.
(3) The contest is open to everybody—.men. women boys and girls—except
employes of these newspapers and their families. It does not matter
where you live. ; <
(4) There is no entrance fee or charge of any kind. This is merely a test
of your skill and historical knowledge.
(5) Each published composite picture must be cut pp and reassembled by
pasting together. Below each picture mart be written the full name of
the subject the date and place of his birth the date and place of his
death below which in approximately twenty’ words; must be written your
description of his most outstanding achievements for American progress.

(6) A total of 86 composite pictures will ire printed in 12 sets of I pictures
each one set to be published each week.
Hold all the pictures until you have! the complete set of 36; then send
them to the “History Makers’’ Contest Editor at the publication office
<>f this newspaper. Be sure to write your name and address clearly on
the back of each page of your entry.
All entries to the Contest must be received at the publication office by
midnight. May 7. twenty-one days after the publication of Set No. 12.
No entries will be . returned to the sender.
(7) Your entry should be sent by first-class mail fully prepaid. Entries
received with insufficient postage will be returned by the postoffice de-
partment. Contestants may send in as many sets as they wish but no
contestant shall be entitled to more than one prize.
(8) In deciding the Contest the Judges will consider accuracy neatness
and the composition of the 20-word description.
(9) You do not have to be a subscriber to the paper—you do not sven
have to buy it - it may be examined at any of the publication offices or
at public libraries free of charge. You may copy or trace the pictures
from the originals and assemble the pictures from the copies you have
made. ... »
(10) The Committee of Judges will be appointed by the editors .of the news-
papers participating and the decision of the Judges' will be final in
all cases. In case of a tie for any of the prizes offered a duplicate
award will be given to each tying contestant.
