line of march notwithstanding the rain
continued to fall In a drizzle and the nir

bleak Noneinber night were packed
with people. Stores nnd houses were
Illuminated as never beforu In llull'alo.
Chinese lanterns In profuse abundance
hung from window nnd roof while Im-
mense garlands of the snme were swung
across tho streets entwining In elabo-
rate net work.
At tho Genesee house In bold letters
a hugo transparency wns Inscribed
"Our citizen governor nnd president
llull'alo greets thee." The sight wns a
grand one. From exchange street to
High street a dlslnnce of three miles
tho streets were decorated with Inn-
terns and the numerous buildings were
one innsa of elaborato dccorntlona.

a mile and tunny Intermediate streets

Some Utile delay was caused in mov-
ing but nt In the fnce of tho ruin
the procession begun Us mnrcli. Fully

Cleveland with an honorary guard com-
posed of sixteen members of tlio Clevi-
land phalanx wns tho signal for cheers
loud and long the Governor standing
with bared head bowing his acknow-
ledgements of the hearty nnd spontnnv-
ous reception accorded him. Arrived
at tne uenesee nouse ins carriage nailed
for.a moment nnd then proceeded In the
line of march ns follows: Up Main to
Goodhnll to Hickory to llrondway to
Oak and to the Genesee house a dis-
tance of four miles. Tho procession
was fully eight miles long.

Governor's carriage arrived again op-
posite the Genesee house and still thu
columns passed without an apparent In-
dication that tho end was near. Tlio
Governor nnd party alighted nnd en-
tered tho hotel nnd It wna nenrly three-
quarters of an iour before tho last or-
ganization passed. The column was
two hours nnd 10 minutes In passing the
Genesee house nnd It Is estimated there
were fully lfl.tsto persons In line.
In the sipiaro opposite the Genesee
house many thousands had congregated
and the appearance of the Governor on
the platform waa tlio signal for wild nnd
tumultuous cheers that fairly mnilo the
building tremble. The Governor stood
with uncovered head while Hon. Henry
Murtln 70 years of nge President of the
Manufacturer's nnd 'Trader's bank anil
tho oldest banker In the city as well as
the oldest cx-rnllroad conductor In the

the apartments assigned to the Governor
nt the Genesee house facing the street
and balcony where he addresseil tho

lorts had not been forgotten. The ele-
gant apartments hnd not been forgotten.
The elegant apartments bad been taste-
fully arranged nnd there wns a profu-
sion ot flowers lletwcen the largo
windows fnolng the street was a large
liorso shoe depending from tho walls
and gas llxtures smllax and choice rose-
buds lent their beauty and fragrance to
the scene rich bouquets were scattered
about and upon the mantles of the suite
