Dying Declaration.
This morning owing to the serious
aspect of Marshalltho old man who was
shot last night It was thought expedient
to take his dying declaration. Justice
Anton Adam accordingly went to the
Santa Itosa hospital whero he Is lying
and took down his dying deposition.

The police are on tho lookout for
McCoy the man who shot Marshall last
night. Captains Shardeln and Hughes
Deputy Sherlffllob Alexander and Ofll-
cers Abby and Coy were out hunting
the would-be murderer. After search-
ing up the river until nearly half-past
three this morning they returned home
and though as yet not successful do not
mean to give In.
Scotch Soiree.
For the benefit of the First Presby-
terian churoh given by the Energetic
AVorkers Thursday evening February
11 188-1 consisting of vooal and Instru-
mental music The military band will

The Right Name.
The Kxpress this morning gave an ac-
count of an old Texas veteran whom
they call Joseph S. Searcey. The I.ioiit
has been requested to correct this his
right name being Joseph S. Seavey. He
was a First Lieutenant In the Texas
navy and was at the capture of the brig
Tooket by the Invincible when the lat-
ter took the former into Galveston In
time to supply General Houston's com-
mand with food.
A Chicken Case.
Injustice Adam's court the oaseof
Itirr vs. Sohultze was heard. Birr lived
at the corner of Goliad and Alamo
streets and last year had several beds of
tender sprouts and flowers laid out.

ment! of the counsel J. n. Copeland for
the plaintiff and C. L. Wurzbach for tho

Died this morning at 328 South La
redo street Mr. Teo. Goureues. of con
sumption. Mr Gourgues was a native

place at 0 o'clock to-morrow morning
