went to the house and knocked. The former
asked the visitors to come in and as soon as

son threw him on the floor and held him.
They then demanded to know where the
money was and he replied that he had none.
After thoroughly searching the house to no
purpose Olson still refusing to tell where the
money was hid the robbers got willow
switches and whipped his bare feet and legs
until they were covered with blood. On his
still refusing they built a large fire In the
back yard carried Olson ont and proceeded
to execute their threat of roasting nim alive.
They plsced his feet in the fire and literally
roasted them. Even this terrible trestment
would not open his mouth. The old man
was then compelled to walk back to the house
where a scuffle ensued during whiih a stone
was overturned disclosing the money box
with $600 In it which they took and de-
camped. There is no clue to the ruffians.
Olson will probably recover.
